egp collector Genre problem kodi

I have started using egp collector so i can fill in a few missing channels epg data, its cool that you can get npvr to run the batch file to make that update before it updates its own epg. however in kodi any channels im getting the egp data from the xml created from epg collector, the genre colour codes do not work it displays the genre info but the colour coding does not work. I believe this is a result of the genre and sub genre being separated by a - where as the channels that npvr collects the data for are separated by a /.

any idea how i can fix this?

If you view a show in NextPVR's TV Guide, do you see the genre info listed?

i believe so, i have added screen shots from npvr and from kodi

In that screenshot it looks like NextPVR is successfully passing the gener to Kodi, since we can see it listed there. I'm not sure why Kodi wouldn't be coloring it though. This NextPVR and the NextPVR addon don't play any any role in the coloring - that is all taken care of by Kodi itself.

At one time NextPVR only used known DVB genres for passing type/subtype to Kodi. There is a mechanism that NextPVR uses for non-standards via xbmc-genre translations.xml to map these to DVB type and subtype

Edit I think sub expanded his list so it it is more comprehensive, but it won't be complete to all XMLTV source.

Probably adding

<genre name="Music / Folk and Country" type="96" subtype="3"/>

to the transaltion file would help with this one example.

The types and subtype are here on page 59 https://www.dvb.org/resources/public/sta...cation.pdf but are also in the translations file.

finally got around to messing with this some more and you were correct adding to the xbmc genre translation file does do the trick. it does appear i can edit the output xml format from epg collector, so i will have a go at matching the output of that to line up with the naming on the genre translation file and hopefully it will work without me having to add a load to the translation file.
