Starting yesterday (or the day before?), I noticed that after I read forum posts, they weren't getting marked as read.

And when I tried manually marking them as read, I get this error:
Code:
Your submission could not be processed because a security token was invalid.

If this occurred unexpectedly, please inform the administrator and describe the action you performed before you received this error.

I tried logging out of the Forum and back in, but still got the same error.

Any ideas what changed?

This morning all my posts that I read yesterday where marked unread even ones where I was the last poster. I was able to use the mark read link successfully to clear this.

I have exactly the same symptoms as BrettB.

The forum software was updated to 4.2.5 yesterday. I'm guessing it's some side effect of that. Is it going ok now?

It's still not working for me. I'm getting the same error. When I searched for it, I found some references on the vbulletin forum about this error after forum software upgrades and a need to modify either the database or a vbulletin file/config.

I eventually removed the 'persistent' threads individually by opening the last post in each thread.

Another 'minor' difference is that after I read a thread it disappears from the list returned when I click What's New?/New Posts - it used to persist for a short while (maybe 30-60 minutes?).

Thanks for the tip, Alex. Individually opening each thread worked for me also.

And I also notice the change from the former behavior of "What's New/New Posts" including even viewed posts for a little bit. It's a little annoying since I would typically read through all new posts first, then go back and respond to any where I had input. I'll have to change my behavior. Oh no... :-)

Now when I get the '...no new posts to view' message, I just click on the 'previous 24 hours' link...

Good call. I had sort of forgotten about that feature.

I just noticed that we both joined the forum in June 2007... Smile
