1. I have a digital cable box downstairs, and I was wondering if there was a way to get digital cable channels on my PC without needing a second box?

2. Is there a way i can manually record my shows, so i can pause during commercials? tommorow(friday) is gonna have alot of football preseason games, and I am looking to record a couple, my TV tuner card didnt come with a remote, so I would like to know if it is possible with my keyboard.

1.) No, unless the box has a second output, and you can run the cable to your PC.

2.) Sure, if you're watching them through gbpvr, just click on the pause button on the screen. If you don't see a pause button, try using a different software decoder on the playback tab in config.
I know there's a keyboard one, (probably the pause button top left), but I"m not sure
You can never have enough tuners!

when I pause onscreen, it just pauses the show, and then resumes it when i unpause it...i want to be able to record, pause the recording when commercials come like a VCR, and then resume recording after commercials.

AFAIK, there's no direct way to do this...although Sub has implemented Comskip support, I'm not sure if it works during recordings/liveTV, or after a recording has finished..
Try enabling Comskip on the Misc tab in config, then download and install comskip (look for the threads on it in the Plugin Support forum).
You can use comskip and comclean to remove commercials from your recordings.

For a remote keyboard, I'll use an old laptop with VNC on my PVR computer. Then I can have the laptop with me on the couch (wireless) and I can control my pc.
