Hi folks,

I installed nextpvr to use with emby, and i have a problem where the NPVR service stops randomly and needs to be manually started again. This occurs when using emby as the front end, through kodi, and also just using the nextpvr player itself. It happens with quite a high frequency, and makes the server nearly unusable as a PVR. Could someone point me in the direction of a fix for this issue or help me troubleshoot what might be causing this? I'm using the latest release on windows 10 x64, and I'm using an m3u IPTV service. All channels come in clearly and buffering is not a big issue.

I've attached my log directory. I also am wondering if it is possibly related to the decoders I'm using. Is there a preferred decoder configuration for all codecs, such as LAV, or is it best only to use the Microsoft codec for stability? (or is this even related to this particular problem?)

One thing I've noticed is a 'graph stopping...' message at the end of the log file when the crash occurs, but I don't know how to troubleshoot that error.

Thanks

EDIT: I also noticed that a crash.mdmp file was requested in another thread that might be related, so I've attached that file as well.

The decoders are only used when you're watching in NextPVR. They're not used when you're viewing in an external client like Emby or Kodi.

It's likely NextPVR doesn't like something about your IPTV provider's streams.

If you create a c:\temp directory, do you get a c:\temp\crash.mdmp when this problem occurs? Please supply that file.

I do, just updated the original post with the file while you were replying. Did not expect such a fast response =)

Thanks - I can see where that crash is happening, but it's not immediately clear why it's happening.

If you just start watching a channel, and leave it (no changing channels etc), does it get this crash? approximately how long does it take?

I started a channel at 4:15 and it's still going at 5:00 without changing channels at all. So it seems that changing channels has something to do with the service crashes. I'll keep it running on this station for a while longer to see if anything happens after a longer period, but so far it has been stable.

So it seems stable until I change channels. I went to the guide, then clicked on another station, the first one worked, but the second change failed. The only other thing I did was update the EPG because the guide was outdated. On that note, does this automatically update on its own, or is that something I need to do manually (or script somehow)? I've attached the second crash file.

The guide automatically updates overnight. You can click 'update epg' any time you want to do it manually though.

Was that with your watching in NextPVR's own UI, or via Kodi/Emby?

I figured out how to get my IPTV streams playing directly in Emby instead of looping through NextPVR, so if you don't want to mess with the troubleshooting I'm good on my end I think. Thanks for your help.

I was watching in emby, not with NextPVR UI, though I noticed it happening in the NextPVR app as well.
