I'm just starting to explore IPTV but confused what type of service I would need to integrate with NPVR. I'm not looking for a freebie, but a reasonable service I could do scheduled recordings from. Any suggestiuons?

ace-tv is good, and works with the new OnDemand screen in NextPVR.

Thanks for your reply. What kind of connection would I use? I see Ace offers several.

I see the On Demand item on the plug-in list, but how do you use it? I'm a real neophyte here when it comes to IPTV.

IPTV Providers typically give you a mixture of urls to live streams, and urls to mp4/mkv video files (both movies and tv series). The live streams just show up in the TV guide like any other channels. The video file urls show in the OnDemand screen, which basically has a two level list on the left, and some metadata information on the right. The top level is the categories the IPTV m3u provides (like "New Movies" or "Walking Dead Season 5" etc). When you click on an item you see the items in that category, when you click an item it plays.

Thanks, Sub. I just found a YouTube video that explained how to get these channels into NPVR.

Is there a secret to getting the items into the On Demand area? I can see what has to be On Demand items on the channel list but they aren't showing up in the On Demand window.

If you're ok with PM me the m3u and xmltv url, I'll briefly try them to check why they're not showing up.

It's still fairly early days for the OnDemand screen, so some IPTV providers may need tweaks to get their videos working correctly.

I am also new to IPTV, but I have some concerns.
This may not be the proper forum to post this question, but does anyone know whether or not this type of service is legal in the USA?

It'd depend on the IPTV service and the channels they're providing. Here in NZ there is an m3u and xmltv file with the majority of the local freeview channels, and it just uses the broadcasters own streams rather than pirated copies.
