New Problem - Zombie Recording

It would be good to hear from @sub on this. It looks very much like there's an oddity with the current state of the BBC4 stream which is causing an unhandled exception in NPVR at the point of stopping the recording, so that recording doesn't stop cleanly. The full fix is probably going to be an update which traps or prevents this exception, but I have no idea how achievable that is, or whether we need to provide any additional data.

Hi all

Well I set my three dedicated PVR PCs to record "From Ice to Fire The Incredible_20180218_23500050" and this morning all have recorded ok.

AndrewJ, maybe worth you trying recording again. Hope it's not just a one off.

I've been using NPVR since the early GBPVR days but let my forum membership lapse.

Sub's support has always been excellent, I bet he's aware of our problems.

I tried the same program on Saturday and it was one of the one which "went zombie". I'll schedule something this evening and see what happens.

Well I recorded on CH4 +1 HD "Couples Come Dine with Me_20180219_13051405" Purely as a test I hasten to say on 3 PCs. And they recorded ok, recording service stopped etc.

The logs only seem too show one tuner failing to stop recording this afternoon.
Does this problem occur irrespective of which tuner you're using?

I'm also seeing this from time to time, tuner/NDigitalHost will not stop when asked to, started to occur with 4.0.4 I think...

Hi Bobins just spent half an hour and IE decided to crash!

Basicly I have 3 dedicated NPVR PCs and I have swapped tuners around, This and Andrewj's problems are caused by changes to the stream settings on com 7 and com 8 since the move of BBC4 HD in January. All other MUXs are fine. See here for affect on Panasonic equipment:

I asked about the tuner because having read the other forums, it could well be an issue with the drivers for specific products that is the cause. I have BBC4 HD on COM8 and BBC News HD on COM7 (Winter Hill) and aren't seeing the problems you guys are experiencing.
There's nothing in your logs to suggest anything excessive in the EPG data and it looks pretty similar to mine in terms of overall quantity of channels/programmes being OTA downloaded.
The move from MHEG to HbbTV isn't likely to be the issue as I believe the HbbTV data will be transmitted on all muxes.

In the end if we believe there is something specific causing a problem in the COM7 or COM8 stream, then we may need to capture a whole stream sample for SUB to take a look at.
