Version 4.2.2 (180623)

I'm writing this at 11AM on July 11 local time. If I create a manual recording for 12:30AM "tomorrow" (the 12th), the request will actually get saved as 12:30AM on the 13th. But if I create a manual recording for 3AM tomorrow, it gets saved correctly.

There seems to be something about how close the (dateless) time of day is to the (dateless) time of a recording request for tomorrow as to whether or not it works.

If I accidentally create a manual recording for earlier today, the request is accepted but immediately goes on the failed list with "recording service not running at this time". Which of course I probably won't notice until too late. It would be better if it wasn't accepted and I was told to fix my mistake.

Is this using the 'Man Rec' button in the Recordings screen?

Yes. I didn't know there was another way or I would have said so. Sorry.

You can also do it in the Guide screen, but I was more asking to find out if you were using an alternative client, like Kodi.

I just tried to recreate this, but I'm not seeing it. (might be something timezone related though, and I'm a day ahead of you already)

Can you post a screenshot of your manual recording popup just prior to hitting the ok button?

You can? A date/time (not keyword) manual recording? All I found off the guide screen was keyword-based recording. Had to search the help to find time-based recording via the recording screen. I'd much rather get to it from the guide screen if I could.

(Will post screenshot momentarily).

Just got you a screenshot, but then that one worked. There is something insidious about this, it's related to where to requested recording time is relative to current time, perhaps relative to 12:00, and possibly "before/after" either current time and/or 12:00. But it's definitely there, I often run into it in the evening when I'm setting up a recording for early tomorrow. I have no doubt I'll get you a screenshot soon, and will post when I do. Thanks.

I attach two screenshots, "1230 r" and "1230 l". Both were created today (11th) around 12:15PM for a manual recording as 12:30 AM "tomorow" the 12th.

Request "1230 l" worked, it's on the list to be recorded tomorrow the 12th. Request "1230 r" showed the problem, it is set to record the day after tomorrow the 13th.

Now for something interesting...

Both requests started out being entered the same way. Man-rec off the recording screen, then clicked on and entered a name. Down arrow or clicked on (I forget) date, right arrow for "tomorrow".

Here's the difference:

"1230 l" (worked): clicked start time, LEFT ARROW to set time, clicked or down-arrowed end-time, LEFT ARROW to set time.
"1230 r" (failed): clicked start time, RIGHT ARROW to set time, clicked or down-arrowed end-time, RIGHT ARROW to set time.

All other fields were left at default values.

So maybe it's simply the right arrow all the time, maybe it's got something to do with the arrow which requires fewer or more hits to get to the right time (arrowing across midnight adjusts the date?), or maybe it's just sporadic.

Anyway, you now have your screenshots and what I hope may be a good clue. Thanks again, and good luck.

Ok, I'll check the code.

BTW, in case you didn't realise, you can type in a four digital 24-hour time, which can be quicker than scrolling, and also gives you the ability to type an exact time, rather than stepping 10 minutes at a time. ie, entering 0035 will set the time to 12:35am. It'll only show up on the 4th digit typed.

One thing that is definitely odd, the start/end time fields are supposed to only contain the values for one day, starting at the beginning of the day at 12:00am, and ending at the end of the day at 12:00am. I just noticed mine seems to have more than a day of 10 minute start times listed. ie, you should only be able to go one way to get to a specific time. I'll check why. It's probably always been this way - very few people use manual recordings.
