The problem has returned! Sad

I've installed the latest version of NPVR, I have deleted the existing channels, deleted the EPG and then re-scanned, using all regions and all frequencies, repeatedly but to no avail. The perplexing thing is that my Humax PVR has no such issues. I have attached my log in case anyone might be able to shed some light on what's going wrong here.

Hi Sub Smile

Those channels work but the other HD/H264 ones do not. Just now, I attempted to retune the TBS 6281 again and of the twin tuners, Tuner A was reported as unable to start, device not found.

These ones? If not, then which ones are you talking about, and what frequencies are they on? (I'm in New Zealand so not that familiar with your channels - so you'll need to give a better description)

This post from yesterday, with another Crystal Palace user, indicated the com7/com8 muxes are currently broadcasting at lower power, which will probably explain if your device isn't locking onto a specific frequency. (your humax will have a better, more sensitive tuner, than the tuners in your PC, and may still lock the frequency)

If your TBS 6281 isn't starting, reboot then try again.

Understood, it all fits into place now!

Does this mean that there is some kind of issue with the transmitter and I will basically have to wait till Crystal Palace resumes transmitting at a higher power? (Please excuse my ignorance about these matters.)

I rebooted and Tuner A was restored. These are the HD and H264 channels that are currently unavailable to me:

BBC NEWS HD
Channel 4+1 HD
4sevenHD
Al Jazeera Eng HD
RT HD
CBS Reality +1
5USA+1
Keep It Country
Vintage TV
Quest Red+1
Pick+1
5Spike+1
Travelxp
QVC HD
QVC Beauty HD
BBC Four HD
5STAR+1
More4+1
Rocks Co 1
FreeSports
Forces TV
PBS America
Together

Do a test and remove all splitters and extension coax from the aerial cable and see if that gives you a result with NextyPVR. If it does then you might also get a result with an aerial amplifier that has two or four outputs.

You might get better advice by posting at ukfree.tv or some other tv aerial specialist site ... Also there is this ... http://www.aerialsandtv.com/digitaltv.ht...-Clearance

From what I read in the other thread, it didn't sound temporary - it sounded like they've turned down the power to minimize impact on nearby mobile 4G/5G frequencies, so you might need a more appropriate antenna (and there is possibly some options for getting a new, more suitable antenna for free)

My disclaimer though - I'm not in that part of the world, so I'm not that sure of the details.

Thanks for the responses, I'll look into everything that has been suggested. In the meantime, I can always record HD/H264 on my Humax.

The joke of it is, that I live on a hill, a mile from Crystal Palace and yet, signal strength is an issue. Big Grin

Others in the same situation might find this thread of interest:

In particular:

Quote:but a large proportion of the very large population served by Crystal Palace are now suffering loss of several channels.

You need a new aerial but only for the next two years (after which COM7&8 will cease).

Turns out that it actually is temporary but over two years! I think I'll switch over to DVB-S/S2 eventually and save myself this hassle.
