Hi,
Just bought my first MediaMVP today and found your page and have been playing with it ever since. I'm having a problem with the Weather plugin. Everytime I select Weather from the menu it bounces me back to the "Contacting Servers" page and won't reconnect yet the GB-PVR MediaMVP service is still running. Restarting that service allows the box to reconnect. I'm using the latest version of the weather plugin, 2.2.1609.11627.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers
Rob
PS : GB-PVR is a great bit of software

It must be taking to long to retrieve the weather information for the msnbc.com. The MVP will disconnect from GB-PVR if it takes more than about 10 seconds to respond to any request.

Do you have a slow network connection?

Hi,
As soon as I hit the "Weather" menu item I get bounced to the "Contacting Servers" pages so I doubt its a timeout issue. I'm assuming here that it tries to retrieve the data when "Weather" is selected and not some auto background task that caches it.
FYI - I have a 600k BB cable connection running to a Belkin 54G wireless router with a mediaMVP plugged into a 100Mbit port and the host PC via an 11Mbit wireless link. I have shut down Zonealarm on the host pc to see if it made any difference ... it didn't [Image: sad.gif]

Update ....
I've now found its doing exactly the same thing on the pictures plugin too. I've since uninstalled GBPVR and reinstalled it and the pictures plugin only and still its doing it.
Originally I had the pictures plugin working then installed the weather one and have had this problem ever since. What have I done wrong ?
Cheers

Have you punched a hole in your firewall for the weather plugin? This is a problem I hit if I have not configured my firewall,

Cheers,
Colin.

And as if by magic it suddenly all works !! Well not quite but I've discovered what just gbpvr does on the host pc!
With the picture plugin if you haven't got a vaild drive selected on the pc such as a CDROM which has been removed then gbpvr on the pc says "Error: The device is not ready" but with the service running on the mediamvp it just exits immediately to "Contacting Servers" page.
The weather plugin is now working ok on both gbpvr on the pc and on the mediamvp. I haven't changed any settings so I don't know what was wrong there.
Think I've also spotted a bug in the configuration panel where the xmltv source file doesn't appear to have been saved properly. On the "Capture Sources" tab whist editing one of the sources xmltv file to use and exit that panel the "Update EPG" button works and the data is imported. However exit the config panel and reload it then edit the capture source and click the "Update EPG" button and it complains about the xmltv source not being configured correctly. Is this by design or a bug?
Cheers for the help.

Hi Guys,
And to answer my question again .... The weather plugin was failing on my MVP and going back to the "Contacting Servers" page because its only supported on the blue skin, not the red or green one. If I was using GBPVR on the pc then it gives me a nice error about not finding the skin.
So is this behaviour known about? It would be nice for the MVP to handle errors a little better as it requires a restart of the service on the server PC to get the gui back up.
Cheers

I get this problem as well, and I'm on Broadband. Without fail the weather plugin dumps back to the contacting servers page. If you go back into it after its ok and showns the plugin instantly.

I tried a re-install but it made no difference.

Any ideas?
