Ok, it seems that the sales ended before I found out, I think I feel less upset now...

Now, btw, how's your area, jorm? it seems that you are located in Florida....
Hope everything's alright there.

In a few years hopefully they will have the MVP 2000, that can decode divx/xvid in hardware. And support HDTV.

We were not hit that bad. Lost power for a couple of hours. Nice gusts of wind and a lot of rain. Not a big deal. It is not even worth putting up our shutters for a category 1 storm. Of course after it hit Florida and decided to become a category 4 that is another story.

Thank you for asking.

Circuit City stores in St. Louis have had the MVP on clearance for the last couple of weeks. When it went on clearance, it was removed from the web site. Last week a store that had one raised the price to $78, so the rebate wasn't a deal. Hopefully, they'll return to the $53 clearance price this week, but getting hard to find here.

Just paid $60 for a MediaMVP at Circuit City near Pittsburgh, PA... No rebates, but still beat Newegg's price ($90 with shipping). I bought the one at CC so I could have 2. FYI, the CC and newegg units were both rev D3A, but the Newegg unit had the newer remote.

Funny thing happened at Circuit City... I asked the salesman to help me find a 'MediaMVP'. He asked what it was, and I told him. He said he worked there four years, and they never sold any device like that! In fact, he claimed it was impossible to transmit TV or music over ethernet!! Rolleyes

The fourth person that asked if they could help, directed me immediately to the last one in stock.

I picked one up yesterday after it took three phone calls before I reached an employee with a clue. He helpfully took the time to march through the database and told me which stores in my city had the last 4 available for $53. (None at his store.) I drove 32 miles to get one yesterday, uggg. And thankfully today I should be able to maybe get two more hopefully.

HamsterGirl,
One is going to be a present, and the others will be hooked up to different TV's through the house. I hope to have five locations setup immediately, but easily could have more than twice that many. I just need to find out more on the limitations of the design to see what is possible. i.e. theater room, master bedroom, kids rooms, etc.... (The only method to even get broadcast TV is going to be through these things for most of the rooms.)

I have 3 mvps now. I figure eventually when I get direct tv I will just get 2 receivers one for each of my capture cards. Buying a 40-50 MVP is cheaper than paying the $5 per receiver per month. And I can do a lot more with it.

HamsterGirl35,
Might be worth calling a couple of Circuit City's in your area and seeing if any have them on sale. I want another but my store ran out.
