Ubuntu 18.04 server. Scheduled a recording 12:00pm to 12:30pm, using web interface. As of 12:46pm, it still lists the recording as "Pending"/"Upcoming". I didn't set any post-schedule recording time, just "Record Once" from the guide. The server created a ts file, which is stamped at 12:32, and plays fine with VLC. It also created an XML file (attached), also stamped 12:32pm. Both these files appear to be stable, and the tuner (HDHomeRun) isn't using any tuners at this time.

(I had a previous problem that resulted in an error message [Failed: Recording service not running at recording time], which I believe was preceded by this problem, and my attempt to recover from it. In that case, there was no XML file.)

Log files and XML file attached.

Update: when looking into another issue, I restarted the server. The recording no longer lists as Upcoming, now it says [Failed: Recording service not running at recording time], just like the other one. I believe this is consistent; the recording remains Upcoming until the server is restarted, and then goes to "Failed: Recording service...".

The ts file and XML file have not changed.

So the recording happened, a file was created, and the recording was playable in VLC, but the web app didn't update it's status? Did you try refreshing the page, or changing to another page and back during that time?

You don't see it listed twice? One as successful, one as failed?

Correct.

Yes, I refreshed the page, went to a different page and came back, no change.

Nope, it just shows once, failed.

To be honest, I'm not really sure - I've not seen any other reports of this behaviour. Is it reproducible?

I posted earlier that this could be permissions. You can have read write without directory list permission.

I set up a couple recordings overnight, same result. This morning they say Upcoming/Pending, though they were finished many hours ago.

As far as permissions, I didn't do anything manually there but I checked it over and don't see anything wrong (referencing Martin's post on the subject). Though maybe I missed something. The app is only using ~/recordings as far as I can tell, I've attached the getfacl output.

Maybe I should start fresh and rebuild, if I'm having a lot of problems nobody else is having on Ubuntu. The only anomaly was that I had the old instructions for my first attempt at install, and then later installed to the newer instructions, so maybe that sequence of events messed up something.

This line in your logs makes no sense to me at your nrecord.log startup

2019-09-21 11:51:55.831 [DEBUG][17] method=channel.transcode.lease

It appears like you have a browser tab or task that is stuck from a previous session and it is going for hours.

I know there is a bug when transcoding initially fails I would restart the Linux PC and schedule a recording without doing any playback in the browser.

Tried right after reboot, didn't do anything except - well I had to restart the service because after reboot it doesn't serve the web page unless I restart it - then set up the recording without attempting to run any video.

Same result, it was done at 2pm but is still Pending at 2:39pm.

Log attached.
