Are you actually watching it in NextPVR, or some other player?

If you're watching it in NextPVR, what decoders are you using?

Oh and to be totally thorough we dont use the NextPVR kodi addons like newc or xnewa because it lacks mouse functionality we get through the original program.

FYI that latest version of knewc includes mouse support.

Yeah? Every version ive used has two problems-
1) It doesnt have the "Groups" section (absolutely necessary with IPTV) in the guide, but the windows version does
2) When you click on various different things a number selection popup appears.

When I say "no mouse support" I mean the full functionality of the original program.
Has it changed to the point where I should try it again?

I don't know what you mean by Group selection, from knewc you can get the group in the UI Client exactly like you do in NextPVR. The UI client mouse is totally different in version 2.80. It should function like NextPVR except in the video player where Kodi offeres more option.

It does not offer the right click mouse menu though if that is what you are looking for.

Ok, so using the most current version and checking off the UI box starts it in kodi with groups.
It doesnt show the program info and the channels start a lot slower.
The on screen menu function (where you can use the mouse wheel to bring up a mini epg to change a channel) does not work, the mini guide appears but clicking on a channel does nothing but remove the mini guide.

I would love to use NextPVR default client as I have been and not have any playback issues instead of the newc kodi version. I'll just monitor this thread in case a solution to the issue the OP had is posted while using NextPVR for recordings only. Thanks.

Other newc issues (i'm using it now) - you have to left click a ton of times to get the popup to watch the channel to appear.
Lots and lots of issues the main client doesnt have.

The display is slower that is true but the reality is the HTPC is dead most people don't want to run PC's for a 10 ft interface and you can get playback on sub $100 boxes. I am not too worried about giving complete mouse playback. support (Kodi fights with my client for control of the mouse when video plays).

I didn't know about the mouse wheel and the mini guide though I will look into that thanks for the feedback.

Not much point monitoring this thread though since it is not the current version. Sub will like be focusing his efforts on another client in v5.

For full mouse support, including OSD guide, and high quality playback the Kodi NextPVR addon is still a good choice.

"the reality is the HTPC is dead"- yeah, I totally disagree. for people with massive movie libraries on hard drive and a huge artwork db and a need for browsing, gaming (me) that's certainly not the case.
I guess if you're just looking to do one thing a small box is ok.
NextPVR became a go to for us regarding live tv playback because I can integrate multiple IPTV services (a must if you cord cut, if a service goes down for maintenance you need a backup) and it can record.
I have one of those cheap boxes in the bedroom. Its ok for live tv.

I meant the HTPC as a client, the backend server, which is not a "Home Theater" at all, certainly needs something like NextPVR for sure and v5 is a great step into the modern world separating the server and the client.

Do you have an example recording you can supply which demonstrates the problem?

Have you tried ticking the 'use legacy reader and demux' checkbox? Did it make any difference?
