V4 works perfectly for me but I'll be happy to take the plunge with v5 if there is a direct upgrade path from v4. i.e an upgrade that carries over my recordings, schedule, tuner config and settings.

For many EPG source and tuner types where there were no enhancements it might be possible. If you haven't pick a quiet time, stop your v4 server, install the new version and start it. Then stop it and overwrite the new config.xml and npvr.db3 in NPVR-Data with your v4 equivalents and start again. I used to do this often. Of course v5 is more than v4 and has it evolved over 2019 sub has had many enhancement so I am not sure that it is impossible, but certainly it is worth a try. Martin

It'd probably work for HDHR. It wouldn't work for IPTV.

Just a thought that you may want to poll users about getting their usage issues fixed before committing to upgrade. In my particular case, I'm having a bad time getting V5 to work with RPi4 Raspbian. But I'll keep at it.

I just did a quick forum search and could not find one post from you trying to run v5 server on your RPi. If you are talking playback issues Raspian isn't recommended over LE or OSMC anyway but again I saw no relevant posts. If you are simply referring to PIN access woes, sub has basically nailed it for me testing the next release with the ability to "remember me" as he discussed earlier. Martin

Sorry, Martin. I was unclear. That should have read V5 PC Windows server. My apologies.

Maybe best to bump the specific thread with the issue and post the current logs.

I couldn't see any guidance in the pre-release notes that indicated that you could just copy over the config.xml and npvr.db3 to v5. Not sure if that is just me not reading carefully or an omission? I'll have a play with it when there's a gap in the recording schedule. cheers.

Will report back in the support forum with any problems.(2019-12-21, 11:49 PM)mvallevand Wrote:(2019-12-21, 11:19 PM)gEd Wrote: V4 works perfectly for me but I'll be happy to take the plunge with v5 if there is a direct upgrade path from v4. i.e an upgrade that carries over my recordings, schedule, tuner config and settings.During the beta period have to you tried v5 with your v4 database to see if it converts thing properly.
