I'm not aware of any reason you'd get that. Is there any chance you could temporally make your server available over the internet, and PM me the address/pin? I'll try connecting to your server to see what it doesn't like.

We're only able to get logs for the backend, and both v4 and v5 have a 'zip my logs' button in their settings screen. I suspect it would not show the cause of a crash on the Apple TV side though.
Quote:And, for a quality of life suggestion, please look into turning Fast-Forward and Reverse into the same 10 sec interval Netflix has. The AppleTV remote is awful for using touch to swipe forwards and backwards. Oftentimes I wind up skipping back/forward even further when I depress the remote button.
I have got some changes coming in this area, but I'd rather not talk about the details until I've got far enough to know if what I want is possible.
For the record, this issue is still occurring for me. I am unable to use the TV Guide functionality on the AppleTV app.
NextPVR v5 has been keeping me pretty busy, so I've not been about to spend a lot of time on Apple TV app. I do have some app changes almost complete though, and intending to post a new build to the app store within the next week.

I'm seeing the same issues as gamelover42:
specifically
* the skip forward/back doesnt work it usually restarts the video.
* the progress bar does not accurately track the video's position (well it does, but only when you initially start playing the recording then 'sometime' during playing the tracking goes whack)
Also, agree with gamelover42 on
* make the app remember the playback position when you exit the player.
* dial back the sensitivity of the video player position scrubber, in a 2 hr recording I find it nearly impossible to scrub only 3 or 4 minutes ahead.
Another nice to to have would be to bring up a menu when you select a video to play with options "Resume (when feature is added to track position on exit), Play from start, Delete".
Having to watch a video to completion before the delete option is a bit annoying, especially when we record 10mins over the scheduled end time.
I'm having problems with the AppleTV app connecting to the server.
It was working fine (mostly) for a while and then it suddenly can't find the server. I don't know of anything that changed on either side. It's running on an AppleTV 4K with the latest TVoS...server is a Raspberry Pi 4 running Ubuntu 19.04 server with NextPVR v5 loaded from the deb file. The RPi is connected to the router with wired ethernet, the AppleTV is using a 5GHz wi-fi link. Everything else on the AppleTV is working fine. I'm able to connect to the server via the web interface from other devices and from Kodi on my MacBook.
I tried putting them on the same physical networks, i.e. both on wired and both on wi-fi...no difference. I also uninstalled the app and re-installed it. And, of course, I've gone thru the power down/power up ritual on both ends.
When I open the app, it says 'Searching for NextPVR server' for a bit, then says 'Sorry, unable to connect to specified server' with an OK box. Clicking on OK takes it back to the searching message. What 'specified server' is it trying to connect to? Is there some config on the app that I've missed? Or on the server? How does it know what to connect to?
There is nothing in the nrecord.log file that indicates it received anything from the AppleTV.
When it was working it was fine (except for crashing when trying to access the guide but that's another topic).

It sends a UDP broadcast message to discover the server. This is sent on port 16891.
If you can post the logs form the server, I can check if the discovery message makes it to the server.

Well, strangely enough, when I went thru the process to get a clean log (delete nextpvr app from AppleTV, restart nextpvr-server, re-install app, run the app) it worked, the app came right up. Beats me. Thanks for the info, tho, I can see in the log where it gets the broadcast, etc.
However, as luck would have it, I then discovered that the recording disk had developed a problem and I couldn't access any of the recordings (bad block). If it isn't one thing it's another.
I fixed that and it seems to work now...except for the app crashing when accessing the guide. I think this has been mentioned before. Any attempt to access the TV Guide causes the app to just crash & it returns to the main AppleTV menu. I'll attach a log file in case it would be any help. It appears to send all the guide info to the app and then starts sending the recording list and then just ends. The log.1 file shows it best, I think. It would be really nice to have the guide working so recordings can be scheduled from the app.

To clarify a little...
When I select TV Guide it shows the date in the upper right corner, the times across the top and a vertical bar all the way down (it would divide the channel names from the show info). At the lower left of the screen it says 'Show Title' and below that, 'Label'. Where the channel names and show listings would be is all blank, just black screen. If I press the select button on the remote or the down arrow, it crashes. Using the left or right arrow buttons to get into LiveTV or Recordings is fine.
@zed I have the exact problem you describe. I was going to post a similar picture a couple of weeks ago. It has basically made the NextPVR app unusable.
