That looks fine and shows it takes almost 5 seconds to get video, and the almost a second more to find good data in the saved data. It also shows the crappy bitrate on the satellite.

I'd go with a 7 second delay for now

Filesize as it related to the file system information is not as important as what ffmpeg reads. Other than the reported size what problem are you seeing?

I suggest just trying the batch file in the extra and see how NextPVR deals with it. If it doesn't work, I will send change the python to make it send the same commands as Windows.

Thanks Martin.  I liked your comment about the crappy satellite bitrate.  Nonetheless the captures do look really good.  :-)  The R500 is quite a cool device when it works.

So the opendct.sh file is already in /var/opt/nextpvr/scripts, along with the python file.  I to view a channel in NextPVR but get an error.  First I see the message "Starting device.  Please wait..."  But then after a few seconds I get "Streaming failed (transcoder exited).  And the NextCom app does not the R5000 as having even started recording.  Do I need anything else to try the batch file in the extra?  Thank you.

With cable, satellite, netflix etc people are used to crappy video, it really is only noticable when you watch the same show OTA.

I'd like to see the log files starting playback.

Trying to attach log file but no matter what extension I rename it to, the forum says the type of file attached is not allowed. ??

You first need to solve this problem

Maybe start with an update to a new version you are several behind

Yeah I see the new version.  Looks like progress is going quick on  getting a stable build.  Looks like install directory is different now (NPVR instead  of nextpvr).  I'll install now and update the scripts to the new location.  I guess they will still go in a /scripts subdirectory?

Using the deb install on linux there is no change in locations.

Yes I just saw that.  I assume you're the Martin that put that installer together. Very nice!

So I assume I can let it replace the old files and leave everything as it.  I ran the installer but still no video and same errors.  However the NextCom app now shows the R500 is recording and I see the file in /mnt/R5000_Recordings.   Latest log attached.
