And from running app from Windows Start menu after running server from Windows Start menu. This after exiting from service 'N' button and stopping server.exe and service.exe in Task Manager

Can you see if this updated file fixes it?

Put into C:\Program Files\NextPVR and rebooted PC to start service. Still the same.
I am ok with leaving the previous .ax version there, but renaming them to ...OLD.ax - shouldn't affect anything ?

I just hope it doesn't turn out to be me doing something dumb, wouldn't be the first time, or the second, or the...
Especially as I seem to be (possibly) the only one.

I'm sure it's a bug, and will be effecting a subset of users. I'm not sure yet how to fix it.

My guess was they were to be placed in the nextpvr folder? Ran program and it kicked out back to the main menu in a few minutes. What should they have done?
