Thank you. I'm getting the sense that I may need a VCR intermediate, in part because it outputs a weird signal that's half the framerate of NTSC, and potentially to amplify it as well (?). Two tidbits from forums that I read:
"It output what you recorded as modulated NTSC which you could watch on a TV or record on a VHS deck (with a tuner). The straight NTSC out was pretty stable, but the signal coming off a cassette tape being played back wasn’t at all."
...though i must say I don't understand this distinction-- the output is an RCA cable to an RF modulator, which I'd assume is the NTSC signal.
and
"In general you need a toolchain (VCR-TV) where at least the VCR is able to "understand" NTSC or PAL and speed up or slow down its transport accordingly, and either internally convert it to the locale's native format ("NTSC-on-PAL" or "PAL-on-NTSC" playback) or a multi-standard TV that can directly sync to the exotic tape's native PAL or NTSC."
Does my interpretation make sense? I in the meantime I'll see if those other softwares can help. Thanks again.
