Oops, you are correct, I did not use sudo. I did just run it again and then was able to add S.W.A.T. as a recurring series to record all new shows.

Not sure why this originally caused an issue for me.

As far as the application was concerned, you had recently deleted or cancelled that specific episode, so it wasn't going to retry recording it as part of a recurring recording. It would still have allowed you to force a one-off recording of that episode.
