I had been looking at the EIT Categories.cfg file (part of the EPG Collector app) and for some reason used that filename in the post. If I might be so bold as to transcibe Martin's shorthand ... "program/data/genres-mapping.xml" equals ... "C:\Program Files\NextPVR\data\genres-mapping.xml" ...

Only in Windows. It is different on every other OS's and it is not documented on the wiki. Editing one file is quite difficult in docker which is why I suggested that sub move it to the user folder.

For the record, I'm running Windows 10pro I have added your Genre code to "C:\Program Files\NextPVR\data\genre-mapping.xml" but it has not made any difference to the Genre Colouring in the Guide (neither the App itself or the Web page) - It simply does not work. @sub any comments/ideas? thanks jordy

Did you restart the NextPVR service after making the change.

Can anyone point me to a complete list of Category Types and Subtypes please? I'm going to try and build a custom genre-mapping file - there are so many inconsistencies between NextPVR and EPG Collector...
And for the record I use EPG Collector for it's ability to edit Program names / Movie titles in order to comply with TVDB/TMDB entries and get the correct Images and metadata. TV stations in Australia are pathetic in their attempts to correctly name their offerings... thanks jordy (2020-05-08, 02:57 PM)mvallevand Wrote: Did you restart the NextPVR service after making the change.Martin, didn't know that it was necessary, but I honestly can't remember if I did or not. I did restart the app many times which obviously didn't help. Anyway, i just restarted the service and then ran "Update EPG" from the Web page. No change in the App but I finally got genre coloring in the Web page. Note: Adding the correct categories to the Emby v5 plugin has no effect - still no coloring in the Emby guide. Thanks jordy

For genre colouring only the first text value is used so the update I gave you should be complete.
For colours focus on the subtype=0 in the first section for standard DVB mappings. The DVB spec for OTA is here FWIW https://www.etsi.org/deliver/etsi_en/300...11101p.pdf I wouldn't customize at this point (I learned the hard way) until sub moves it to to NPVR-data. Martin

You probably forgot that NextPVR web is browser based and didn't use CTRL-F5 to refresh the page after making the changes. Updating the EPG is not necessary.
Emby colouring is completely independent, you have to manually add your text values to the Emby groups (via the NextPVR plugin settings) to get the EPG colours. Martin

Thanks Does the First Text value also apply to the Emby plugin for coloring? I have entered a couple of "types" that match NextPVR categories but no colors in the guide yet... might have to ask @emveepee in the emby forums, he seems to be the man there. cheers for the help jordy

I am @emveepee I was going to use that here when I registered but in 2006 but I was coming from mvpmc where is I was mvallevand so wanted to avoid confusion. Now I wish I was emveepee here too.
The Emby and jellyfin plugins use all the categories but you have to enable the guide colouring and add the exact text categories not the mapped values from the xml files in the plugin settings. Martin |
