Modify quality settings of recording

When you click a show in the TV Guide page, and click 'recording series', it's only for airings on that same channel.

(the only real exception - if for some reason it can't record on that specific channel, like the tuner is already in use for something else, but it'll look for another airing of the same episode on the same channel at another time. If it can't find one, but the same episode is on another channel at another time, it can then fall back to recording on another channel....this only comes into play if you have a guide that clear identifies unique episodes, like by season/episode number...often not the case with xmltv supplied by IPTV sources)

To have it record on any channel, when you click a show in the guide, you have to click 'advanced', then change the recording type to 'record series - all episodes, all channels'.

Yes but how? When I click on the listing name in guide, from the hd channel, it pops up, I click series... Then it proceeds to record from the SD channel instead.

NextPVR should record the show on ... this ... channel for all options that do not say ... All Channels

If you are getting the wrong result ... attach logs to a post telling us the time that you clicked to create the recording and the name and time of the show to be recorded.  Thanks.

I've pointed out that recording "All Channnels" from the browser is currently broken so that would not be the cause on this release.

Thanks for the link to documentation, let me study.  But I just want to show what I see on my side, there is no "all channels" or anything like that.  Below is Guide -> click on show -> advanced.  The other thing like Record Series doesn't prompt at all for any options.

Yes, 'record series' is all that most people need, and probably what you want.

If you wanted other types of recording, such as recording a show on all channels, you can click the 'advanced' button, and from that 'recording type' drop down, you can choose 'record series - all episodes, all channels'. It doesn't sound like you need to do that. (sounds like you just want the original channel you clicked in the guide)

I found out there is a manual record + button on the top right that eluded me until now. With that, I can specifically name a channel! That's all I wanted for Christmas! Well, that and external-player support in the Android app.

So, I looked at some pending recordings and it looks like it's going to work -- only recording on HD channels!!!

But I've never used the "recording type => all episodes, all channels".  Didn't even know that was an option until just now.  I've just left it default.  So maybe the error here is if you click in Guide then click Advanced, but just accept the defaults, it still goes to SD channels and not the one you are on?

Honestly I'm just happy it works but I'll see if I can spend more time to reproduce the exact steps and the exact outcome, with screenshots.  I was pulling out my hair.  But the manual record seems to solve it for me.

No - if you click a show, and click 'record series', the recordings will be for that channel you clicked on.

With iptv you get the quality the server sends you.  Whether it says HD UHD or 4K may have nothing to do with the reality.
