So ... as I increase the delay of the nextpvr Prestartup script - it increases the delay on the SI being downloaded at the end of dmesg ?

With a 30 second delay:

[ 14.785206] Bluetooth: RFCOMM TTY layer initialized
[ 14.785232] Bluetooth: RFCOMM socket layer initialized
[ 14.785248] Bluetooth: RFCOMM ver 1.11
[ 32.101766] si2157 12-0062: found a 'Silicon Labs Si2157-A30'
[ 32.153200] si2157 12-0062: firmware version: 3.0.5
[ 32.221730] si2157 11-0060: found a 'Silicon Labs Si2157-A30'
[ 32.273559] si2157 11-0060: firmware version: 3.0.5

I have used this USB tuner succesfully with Windows and NextPVR for years now, I am just trying to use a smaller machine with less power.

I wonder if it's a problem with the Linux driver; not sure where to start in debugging that ...

That might actually be sub's code discovery code that so that doesn't explain the issue. Maybe we need to see journalctl output.

How do I get that ? And when should I capture it? Right after startup? Or after a crash and subsequent startup?

It's a running log

sudo journalctl

should do the trick.

I am posting Journalctl output ... but I haven't had the problem since it appears that the logs have rolled over.

.zip   debug.zip (Size: 16.99 KB / Downloads: 1)

Have a look and I will recreate the problem, I will capture again.

That is okay it goes to the start. It seems like it was doing fsck for quite a while on startup. You might need longer if you aren't shutting down the PC and just powering off. Maybe even 60 seconds.

It appears to be predictable now.

I am fine if I am only using 1 of the 2 tuners on the USB Tuner.

I can happily record 1 show only and was able to for 4 days in a row over the weekend.

Tonight I was recording one show starting at 9pm and a second one started at 930.

As 930 approached the screen saver stopped working and so did the window manager, the menu disappeared at the top and I have no choice but to power down.

I waited until 10 rolled around so I could keep the system up to collect the logs they are attached.

The timeout issue seems solved but because of the server crash we aren't seeing any logs that might resolve the tuner issue. I don't think there is much to help with this issue, maybe see it there are similiar issues on the RPI forum or on b-rad's github account
