Need help with unable to find capture device please

Hi.  I've been using NPVR for about a year and it has worked quite well up until now.  All of the sudden, I can't watch or record live tv.  I get the error "unable to find capture device".  Under settings, it can see my 2 hauppauge WinTV tuners, and they show up under device manager in Win 10.

Normally I would just uninstall and reinstall, but I had a really hard time getting the guide to work (finally did it with zap2), so I don't want to have to figure that out again.

Can anybody help with what might be happening?

Have you tried rebooting?

Do you see both tuners as 'enabled' and 'present' on the Settings->Devices screen?

Yes to all questions. You made me think of something - restart the service. I did that and suddenly it works. I have no idea why rebooting didn't do it, but restarting the NPVR recording service did the trick. Thanks!

Is your service set to Delayed Start? For some devices/networks, after a fresh boot the OS takes a little while to get all of the devices and networks set up. If NPVR is started too soon and tries to use those things that aren't setup yet, it can cause problems. Since manually restarting later works, it leads me to believe that your problem is related to this situation.

I don't think it is, but I'm not positive how to check. in the startup section of task manager it is listed as a startup service, impact "low", but it doesn't say anything about being delayed.

I appreciate the time spent trying to help me here!

You need to do this is in properties of Services.msc. One way to get there is via is the services tab of task manager, Open services
