Hello,

An idea for improving kodi Nextpvr addon...
Not sure if this is possible as I am not sure how much it can be customized, but I'll list it anyway...

Right now, UI has two main levels:

1 line which is the bar that can be moved using left/right to seek backward/forward
2 line which has the remaining controls

Because line 1 when the bufer isreally long such as mine (3 hours) becomes a mess when seeking backwards/forward, what about if:

We could add one more line above line #1 that will show pictures (thumbnails) each one of which corresponds to 10 sec after/before frame. Then we could move with left/right on this line and whichever picture we press "OK" on, then the addon would request a seek to that exact time...

This way, we can see really where we want to go, and we don't just blindly press left and right controls to go where we want...plus we avoid accidental seek operations on sensitive remotes as only after pressing "OK" to confirm seek operation would be sent to Nextpvr Server...

What do your think?

The NextPVR addon has no control over the UI in Kodi. That's managed by Kodi itself.

Thanks Sub, does this mean that most likely implementing something like that would mean that we would have to create a new skin right?

Damn I must learn how to code skins... :-)

Realistically, it's probably something only the Kodi developers do. It would need changes in NextPVR too.

Thanks sub, sure, it would need I guess a command to get the list of frames....and generated thubmnails for those frames...

So not very likely....anyway...it was worth a try... :-)

The solution sounds like a better remote. You shouldn't be needing the bar to skip why not stay off the bar and use left/right keys. You probably should consider all the options https://kodi.wiki/view/Skip_steps sound like #4 is safest for you.

My ideal client would uses NextPVR.exe style number/arrow skipping unfortunately most remotes don't have numbers now and UI client doesn't support timeshifting and navigation between "live" programs in the buffer.

Thanks Martin, I will try that. But take a look at the video below, you'll see how handy this feature really is...

It's a matter of taste I hate it in Netflix and Amazon Prime. I don't like to see future frames of show and especially sports. thinking about it I don't even like trailers or coming attractions because I remember scenes when I watch the real thing.

As sub posted this is for Kodi not the addon anyway.

I understand Martin...but remember my context....long pauses...resume....skip commercials...(that usually take 20 mins...)
