Cannot watch two EXTRA channels at the same time

ok, I tried adding a new EXTRA device with a couple channels that exist in an existing EXTRA device and could play channels from different EXTRA device fine. However after I did "Auto Merge", the new duplicated channels were basically removed from the guide and I was still not able to play more than one channels. so merging channels doesn't work.

next I tried adding channel to the new EXTRA device by copying the setting from an existing EXTRA device as prompted by NextPVR, then the entire channels were copied and no duplicated channel names were shown in the guide and I was able to play two channels at the same time. Bingo!

However there is one problem, there are multiple existing EXTRA devices which are created for different types of internet sources, when prompted for copying existing settings, I am not given a choice on which existing EXTRA device to copy from and the system always chooses a same default one. I think one workaround is to put all EXTRA channels in one single EXTRA file and duplicate it. but this approach is not as clean as before since a refresh of the change to one source will cause refresh to all the channels from other sources. I think adding "max connections" would be an ultimate solution for this. hopefully it will be implemented soon. thanks.

The issue with multiple files and max connections at the root level is it might not extend to each channel.  You might be able to play multiple channels but one channel might not let you stream twice.  I know the op had a batch file he runs with each channel.  If NextPVR didn't use multirec for the channel the batch file might be called twice.

my batch file can be called concurrently without any issue, and somehow NextPVR can stream the same channel to different clients at the same time right now, but I am not sure if I am talking about the same thing as you described.

I am not talking concurency. You introduced change with multiple tuners. Sub's default is to use a new tuner it you start recording a show you are watching live. That will mean your batch file will run again and depending on what it does it could impact the existing live tv stream.

yes, I expect my batch file will run again and it basically establishes another stream with my source provider and won't affect the existing stream. as I mentioned before, all my channels used to be in IPTV device which doesn't have technical limitation on max connections on each channel (surely one provider limits 3 connections due to my membership subscription).
