I've been watching a DVD and all of a sudden, subtitles came up. Subtitles are not checked in the config section. ON this specific dvd, i went in and turned off closed captioning and it didn't take care of it. I went back to that menu and just to check, i checked "spanish Closed captioning" And when i went back to the dvd, now i have a spanish and an english subtitles. In fact, when i have "subtitles" enabled on the dvd, i get two sets of closed captioning on top of each other. It's as if GBPVR is somehow finding the closed caption stream and putting it apart from whatever the dvd is doing.

I tried pressing CTRL-G and the green key ( i read somewhere that that's supposed to toggle it, but it didn't)... anyone have thoughts?

GB-PVR doesnt do its own subtitle display for DVDs. I cant think how you would have got two subtitles there.

Try pressing the Yellow key (Ctrl-Y).

When you have two sets of subtitles, maybe one of them is being generated by your TV? Check to make sure you don't have closed captioning on your TV turned on.

i did check the tv and the displays are off. The dvd works fine in my player, but not through gbpvr. And today, windows media player doesn't (it used to) read the dvd anymore. i'[ve tried different dvds, same problem. It's as if somehow "Closed Caption" is hardwired. I just can't get it to go away

i think so. I have no idea why it quit... I uninstalled my video drivers and re-installed them ( i have nvidia). I also reinstalled ndvd. That looked like it took care of it... but, you know, we'll see... I think all this stuff that i've learned about pvr is more of an art than a science.
