jwh7,

Did you install glibc?

In re-reading the thread I'm wondering if that isn't the issue.

Sorry @CDinger yes I've had glibc all along; the root issue was not running the .dll from inside the NVPR directory.  Now I'm just have OTA EPG issues.  Does your work?

I meant that @sub's linux install post could point to the install wiki, so new user's are properly directed to the latest info.  :-)

That jives with what I am using too (using manual asp.net runtime install); I got rid of all the extraneous stuff I tried in my previous posts and it didn't change anything.  :-)  EPG still gets stuck at 1sec remaining on the first channel.  After I get the "Unexpected error" in linux, the device is locked and I have to restart to get channels working again.  If I don't Ctrl-C, it will eventually time out (~5-10min) on each channel and move on, but every channel fails the same way.  In Windows, I'd always used the NPVR app to do the scanning, but I tried the web client yesterday and it seemed to complete very quickly, but didn't actually pull in any data.  No crashing though.

I did check the ownership:
Code:
[t1700@T1700 ~]$ ls -Al /dev/dvb/adapter0/
total 0
crw-rw----+ 1 root video 212, 4 Sep 24 11:29 demux0
crw-rw----+ 1 root video 212, 5 Sep 24 11:29 dvr0
crw-rw----+ 1 root video 212, 3 Sep 24 11:29 frontend0
crw-rw----+ 1 root video 212, 7 Sep 24 11:29 net0
And added the 'video' group to my user account:
Code:
[t1700@T1700 ~]$ getent group video
video:x:986:t1700

But EPG still fails.  I've attached logs again in case this helps anything... thanks!

Edit: looks like this thread is related (and it basically what my windows setup is doing, despite not working differently from linux, the effect is the same; no EPG).

I am using schedules direct but I have used zap2xml and another that I can't remember the name of. They both work but I had issues with identifying new shows. I often use "record new episodes" and the epg data wasn't identifying new show consistently.

What are you using for your will data?

The default OTA ATSC EPG data.  Or trying to...  ;-)

The ATSC data is crap any and hardly worth supporting SD is a bargain.

There is definitely an issue of an endless loop on the scan that sub will need to look at.

It actually does not support the ATSC EPG on Linux at this stage, so you wont get any listings with this combination.

Behind the scenes there is a half done implementation, that reads the data, but currently does nothing with it.

You'll need to use some other EPG source for now.

Oh, that's too bad.  :-(  Is there a plan to get it working anytime soon?

I do intend to complete it at some stage, but it's no the top of my priority list.

In reality pretty much no one is going to use it. The OTA EPG is terrible in the US/Canada, and typically only has a few hours of listings. Most people in that part of the world switch to Schedules Direct, so they get stuff like show episode names, season/episode numbers, and better artwork etc.

I've had no issues using the OTA EPG in Windows for years now, at least it's perfectly sufficient for my usage; generally for real-time watching and/or recording, not so often for scheduling future recording.  :-)
So at least one person will appreciate this eventually getting fixed for Linux.  :-P

Btw, I've updated the Linux install wiki page; let me know what you think.  ;-)
