IPTV Channel Removed Following Name Change

I am having a blast with NextPVR, awesome application!

I have an IPTV provider that prefixes all the channels with the group name. It is great when wanting to find something, but clutters the Guide, sometimes so I cannot see the whole channel name.

When I change the channel name in the settings -> channel, it looks great!

Unfortunately, when I update the IPTV device to add an additional channel, (settings -> devices -> iptv(<device>) -> Update m3u) those channels that I changed the name of disappear from my lineup.

Is there a way to have the channel name displayed in the guide (and other areas, like settings -> channels) divorced from the name the IPTV provider uses and still keep the link to the providers name during an m3u update?

I think you need to manually change it each time you update.

i face similar issue with channel names that change, only not by me by my provider. All my football channels change every week sometimes twice, example is 'EPL01 - no match today' changes to 'EPL01 team a .vs team b Saturday 15:00' or similar.

i delete and recreate my device each week to keep the updated channel in the same place in channel list / number for Kodi to work around. using update, NPVR sees it as a different channel, deletes the old one from the location i chose for it in my m3u, and places the 'new' channel at the end of my channel list in NPVR. I did look in to trying to create a batch file i could schedule stopping NPVR. deleting the DB. starting NPVR then creating a device and importing my M3u, but sadly was beyond my skill!

i also have channels i renamed, but i don't use NPVR for this. I use M3U-editor to manage my M3U and XML EPG mapping and it syncs with my IPTV provider twice a day, It remembers my changes and keeps channels intact on update (stream url change, manual changes my me and changes to my football channels as noted above) keeping them in the same place i originally chose in my M3U. it supercharged my IPTV experience as sooo easy to get a perfect M3U and map multiple xml source for epg. its very fast and intuitive as you can create custom or rename existing groups, then just drag and drop groups to the order you would like and all the channels in those groups and the groups appear in that order in the M3U that they provide a configurable url for, so perfect results in my client. my very messy m3u with stuff allover the place from my provider when out put through M3U-editors url mirrors channel lineup that was in the premium virgin cable i use to have (with some improvements of my own like all +1 channels next to the real time equivalent amd many more groups so i can jump to what i want fast!) once i set it up it was done, and syncs for any changes keeping my work in place...but it is not free

M3U Editor + NVPR together give me an almost perfect solution, as deleting / re-creating device in NPVR doesn't take me long. i think if NPVR would sync with the M3u and its structure on start up similar to the way simple iptv client syncs with M3u on start up in Kodi it would be 100% perfect!
