The guide in nextpvr 5 updates fine automatically. But the guide does not update automatically in kodi. I know I can clean data and it will reload the guide and update. But is there a command in kodi to do this ? I can program a key in a kodi skin or assign a button on a remote. Apparently the command "startpvr" used to work in kodi but has now been discontinued.

In Matrix with a v5 backend I made a change and the Kodi guide will be updated right after the backend updates.

I don't know anything about startpvr but there is no API to do a channel reload the addon has to be stopped and started (which a clear does behind the scenes). Restarting Kodi is also a temporary solution.

Thanks for that but I used emby4kodi (ran into problems with emby con) and there is no matrix release yet. Restarting kodi does not refresh the data from the backend it just reloads the same information it had previously so any missing data is still missing, only clear data fills the gaps. Was hoping someone knew the command that kodi uses to clear data and I can just create a button that executes that command.

Do you have the Leia PVR Guide option "Don't cache in local database" enabled? You shouldn't enable that for several reasons.

I know the commands but like I said there is no API.

Dont cache in local database is disabled. If you know the command cant you post it and I can create a refresh guide button in the skin to activate the command. Or is not that simple ?

Double negatives are sometimes difficult as I said "Dont cache in local database" needs to be enabled.

Sorry for the confusion the commands aren't something a users can access, I do it in the addon and under software control, I stop and restart the addon.

Enabled the option and restarted kodi, it filled in the gaps, now the next test I wont know for a few days. If I leave kodi running 24/7 will the backend fill in the gaps or do I have to clear data / restart kodi.

EPG updates in Kodi are based on time, the update interval is set in the PVR settings. If you leave Kodi on 24/7 it will update as many times as you tell it too.

Thank you for your help, mark this as solved if need be. Will only check back if the kodi on 24/7 doesn't update for further help.

Hi Martin,

I'm noticing the same problem as the OP with v5 and Matrix, where, after booting up Kodi many hours after I last booted it up, and after waiting for the pvr.nextpvr add-on to run through its initial updates ("Importing guide from clients", etc.), I will browse to the guide but it will still be out of date compared to the one on the NextPVR server. It seems like if I wait for maybe five or ten minutes, it'll finally update itself, but that seems like an unnecessary delay -- shouldn't it just happen basically immediately after the "importing guide from clients"? I've currently been going in and running the "Clear data" option in the guide settings, and then it updates the guide immediately. Unfortunately, my situation doesn't allow leaving Kodi running 24/7, as it's an app on a Fire TV stick that is used for other things.
