I am relativley new to the GBPVR/MVP scene. I believe I understand how everything works, but I am having one problem with my MVP. The default picture was too big and I finally found MVPScreenPos (which did not work too well) and adjusted the menu screens to fit my TV; however watching LiveTV and Recordings & Video Library still is not right. I assumed the settings were tied together, but they are not. The picture is too big for the screen. I can tell this because the (US) CBS logo "eye" is cut off on the screen; same for the X in FOX.

I am using the RCA outputs on the MVP and inputting that to my VCR as a make shift RF modulator as my TV does not have S-Video or RCA inputs. The tuner in the VCR displays picture sizes correctly; however, the MVP does not.

Any ideas? I tried to make adjustments on the TV, but that did not work either.

Try unplugging the power to your MVP for about 10 sec or so, and plug it back in. This sometimes clears up that problem.

GB-PVR is only able to control the size of the menus and OSD it displays, not the size of the video.

You should try dhwhisen's suggestion though, as there is a bug with the MVP that can cause it to start displaying an extra large picture. This is cleared by restarting the MVP.

I will give it a try. It seems to me it has been doing this since the beginning. I turn the MVP off and on all the time, but I do not unplug it. I will try that tonight. Thanks.

Unplugging it, waiting, and then plugging it in again is the only way to get the MVP to completely "reboot". Turning it off and on with the remote does not do that. Hopefully, it will fix your MVP problem. The MVP is relatively simple technology that either works or it doesn't. I know it may sound like a canned response to "reboot" it, but for something as "simple" as an MVP, that's usually going to be the solution (or at least part of it).

GBPVR system info intentionally left blank because I'm personally
insulted that you can't remember it from previous signatures.

Tried the "reboot" and this did not fix it. I know it rebooted because it went through all the diagnostics. If the VCR (my RF modulator) was doing the same thing I would understand, but it displays the screen correctly.

Any other ideas?

I will check mine out this weekend. I always noticed that the image on movies was a little too big. I also have an older Hauppauge WinTVPVR-PCI card (Their original PVR card). I recently installed it in my 2000 server as a backup capture source. It records very nice quality files, but it's highest resolution is 708x480, which is actually a DVD standard not used much at all. It's files play back on the MVP fine also. I will check and see if they get cut off the same as my PVR150s files.
3x MVPs (not used anymore)
XBMC
Hauppauge 150 via SVideo
Comcast Digital Cable
Motorola HD Cable box channel changed via Firewire
Vista Home Premium with RDP hack
AMD Athalon 64 5000+
340gig sata, plus 80SATA+3x160IDE Drives in XP machine for storage.

Do people look a little fat or is the picture too big vertically and horizontally? I've found I occasionally have problems with the MVP seeming to forget which aspect ratio it is in and settling on something in between 4:3 and 16:9. To me it seems to be related to the version of the dongle.bin that the MVP loads from, it only seems to happen with some of the newer ones.

I'm not sure, but I thought I read someplace that there is something in the Hauppauge software which can set the screen size. Could this possibly be interfering. I could be wrong on this, as I haven't tried it myself. Mabye someone else can either confirm or deny this. I know the Hauppauge software affects GBPVR even if it isn't running as my MediaMVP screensaver battles it out with the GBPVR screensaver because I have yet to go in and disable the MediaMVP one in the Hauppauge software.

Same here.

Running 95.16 with 1 MVP and one LCD-screen attached to the VGA-card.

Movies played back on the MVP lack the left & right of the screen, while viewing using the VGA-card the movie plays full screen.

Any ideas how to resolve or tweak this?
