Hey all,

my first post on the forum. A little background informatie: i am using my PCH-100 already about a year. A very good friend of mine showed me GBPVR and I thought "that's what it should look like". So I downloaded the neccesary files, printed the install manual en got started.
All the steps were not that hard to do but the end result is a black screen.

Yesterday we tried a lot of different options with that friend of mine (auto-install, changing path's, changing IP-adresses etc. etc.)
Telnet is working fine, but we still get a black screen when we start GB-PVR.

My friend knows a lot more about Linux than I do and we came to a sort of conclusion that not all mvpmc-processes are running.
I donot know exactly where to look now.

Has anyone encountered the same problem?
Anybody got a clue where to look?

All hints and ideas are welcome.
I am looking forward on using GBPVR but cannot seem to fix this problem.

Hope to hear from you.

Thanx in advance!

Marc

If the black screen returns to the PCH main screen after 30 seconds it is a server side configuration error or firewall problem. Compress and upload your logs and we can have a look.

If it doesn't return the problem is a misconfiguration on the client side setting. If you modified startmeup then you may have the wrong setting. If you need to have your PCH setup not to use Auto as the TV setting and it must be a standard HDMI or component setting. I did upload a new client in the past couple of days that does a better job of detecting modes.

Since you can run telnet entering

/etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2

by itself can often give clues if you capture the screen output to a file and upload it I can have a look too.

Hi Martin,

I'm the friend Marc is talking about, in another thread you already helped me and at the end I got it working by starting it from the telnet session and after that I could use the html file.

Yesterday evening after I and marc stopped trying the fix the problem via the phone because tomorrow evening i will be at his place, I updated my software also to the latest versions with the nmtinstaller (gbpvr 1.3.11). The installation worked fine. But now I also get a black screen after selecting the gbvr.cgi link in the html file.

So I opened the telnet connection, and had a look at the startmeup file (looks fine) and tried to start mvpmc from /etc/mvpmc and get the following error:
(command used /etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 -m 1080p --frequency 50 &, also tried without --frequency)

PS: Marc if I (re)start gaya after the mvpmcx2 program has stopped I get my popcorn screen back because gaya is the screenhandeling program for the popcorn.

Martin,

I wanted to try the previous version of mvpmcx2 but because i've overwritten the installer with the new one i'm not able to. Could you post the version of mvpmcx2 that came with the previous installer (gbprv 1.3.7), I could start this one and see the processes running.

Oke I just fixed it, it's working again. I think i've found the culprit, it's got to do with the hdmi detection and the settings that are stored from the setup menu.

I will try to fix it at marc's place tomorrow and will retry it on friday at home to make sure i've got it right.
