I'm finally getting some time to devote to getting KNEWC working with Kodi on my Debian Rpi4 on a wired network. Great success! Thanks for your hard work!

I have a question...Each time I start a new channel, the video/audio begins almost immediately. Good. But after about 10-15 seconds, things pause and the "Buffering" message appears. After 100% is reached, video/audio are restored never again to appear until I change the channel.

My research has turned up nothing. Time-shifting is not involved. I have found no way to control any hardware decoding.

Order of events:
-Restart server service
-Start Kodi
-Start KNEWC add-on
-Start LiveTV and witness the buffering
-Stop KNEWC and then Kodi
-Flush server buffers, zip them and then add in the Kodi log

Can you take a look at the logs(NextPVR and Kodi in one zip) and tell me if I can fix this?

Much appreciated.

Sorry I haven't been able to resolve this either. I have an unrelase knewc feature to help record VOD https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B98P_XJ4...e=youtu.be but I can't use it because of this lag.

Anything anyone can do to help me solve this would be appreciated I am not sure what I need to do to avoid this calling http from an addon. As you say recordings are fine so it is something about that initial buffer.

A workaround If you enable pvr.nextpvr and use PVR mode rather then Native playback it will be better and you will even get timeshift, but I don't know if sub fully supports timeshifting in UI client so odd things might occur.

I'd be happy to help but while Windows skills are considerable, my Linux skills are limited. It sounds like you know what is happening but have not found a suitable solution. Care to share?

Thanks for the tip about using PVR mode. I'll give it a try. I simply need to watch live TV and play back recordings.

Thanks again...

This isn't windows or linux it is Kod addons. I don't see other addons users complaining so it is probably something I don't understand about starting a player.

PVR mode has the advantage of playing recordings in progress and comskip without a share but it slows down startup and is more resource intensive than knewc.

Hi, I found this while looking for info on comskip in V5, and can definitely say I get the same behaviour in the webUI. Get a couple seconds of perfect live tv, then a stutter that could be barely noticeable or a handful of seconds. It was such a small thing it wasn't even on my "try to figure out" list... but I'm really not doing much more than streaming on a monitor for the most part. Either way, thought with your above statement I'd at least chime in.

If there's any info I could provide that might help, please do let me know.

Finally got to testing the PVR mode onRPi4 Kodi. Same problem as described in Post #1. In fact, of those modes that produced a watchable video, every mode does the same thing.

I hope you can find the answer.?

When you use PVR mode do you also have Kodi PVR NextPVR enabled? If not it falls back to the same mode.

The issue is likely the 2 HEAD and three GET that Kodi does to start live TV when streaming. NextPVR sees at least one of these as a new request. It doesn't like something about the sequence.

I hope I understand what you mean. All my testing has been with KNEWC and changing the Settings before launching the add-on. I'm not sure what you mean when you say "Kodi PVR NextPVR enabled?".

PVR mode uses the PVR playback engine with the UI Client so pvr.nextpvr has to be installed and enabled.

I tried installing pvr.nextpvr from zip "pvr.nextpvr-coreelec.zip." Install failed.

Am I using the right zip?
