"starting device"?

I installed the windows system, and it then opens a client in web browser.
It scanned for channels, found 74 channels.
They are all listed in the Channels screen (with names!), and clicking one it goes to the play/display window, but always says: "Starting Device - please wait".

The device is AverTv H837, and clearly it did recognize it and use it to get all the channels and names.

But no video.

You can't watch TV and do an EPG scan at the same time. It also looks like your are doing on EPG scan on clear QAM which won't find anything, you need to use Schedules Direct.

I think I started an epg update about 2-hours ago, the TV Guide screen is still all blank (empty) for all channels.
It is not obvious to me that it is doing anything now.

For you QAM tuner you should make sure you auto map them to None until you get real guide data.

Yes, that is what is in the settings.

Do you know for a fact that clear QAM channels are available to you? Many cable companies don't provide them and you certainly seem to have more then I have seen for a long time.

Yes; I have two TVs on the same feed, and also using this same device and machine running the AverTv app I can watch and record all channels.
Wouldn't the correct channel scan list indicate that it is working for accessing the feeds? I wonder if the AverTv app has somehow locked he device - but NextPVR indicates that it sees it and is using it...

I'd suggest rebooting, then going to the Settings->Channels, and using the automap feature to set the EPG Source to None, or preferrably Schedules Direct if you have it (or some xmltv source)
