I have recently installed a August DVB-T210 usb stick and the recommended software NextPVR. Its a new HP Z2 G9 workstaion running windows 11.
Had a few installation issues getting webapp and NextPVR working. However I have a problem when the PC is first powered on. I get the error "Starting device: please wait" and later "streaming failed (transcode exited).
Seems the software cant start the device. I have tried turning off the security software HP Wolf Security then exited Edge browser and tried again; This sometimes solves the problem but means 20mins getting NextPVR working each time pc is turned on.
There is also a close down issue that shows as NextTV Backend says its recording and this stops shutdown. There are no scheduled recordings.
Seems like the USB stick is reluctant to start.
Have check firewall and NextPVR features and USB stick is in a USB 2 port 480Mbps.
The version of NextPVR is ver 7.0.1.241229

Any ideas?

Without the zipped logs from the web settings page it is hard to diagnose problems but it is possible that NextPVR is starting up before the USB drivers and the tuner are ready.

Check the devices tab and see if the web Settings->Devices tab is disabled after a boot. If it is I would untick the option on the Setting->General page to check for devices at startup and reboot.

Another option on the Windows services screen you can tell the NextPVR service to wait if you change it to Delayed start. This can be could be it might lead to longer delays on startup.

If neither option helps, send the zipped logs.

Martin, Thanks for very quick reply. I left all security software enabled; unchecked webapp setting;general unselected scan devices at startup. No change but noticed the NextPVR icon on extended task bar was grey not green background. Webapp opens but no settings tab nor guide/channels then got error server connect on selecting channels ; suddenly error cleared and TV Gudies / channel all working.
So guessing tried your last suggestion changed NextPVR service to run automatically  - not delayed start. Re-stated PC all now works fine and no shutdown error of NextPVR backend stopping shutdown due to recording.
Problems all solved with you excellent help. Thank yo so much.

The first paragraph sounds likes it does take some time to initialize your device. Let us know how the August tuner works for you, it's not too expensive but the ratings on Amazon where mixed.

Well problem is back with "Starting device please wait" followed by "streaming failed (transcode exited)". Status tray shows the device but no action. I have tried various hardware fixes; different USB port ; check its USB 2 i.e. not blue centre. Connected USB stick direct to port i.e. not using August supplied USB short flexible strop(supected low power  to stick). Non of this resolved the issue. I have caprured two log files one after successful boot and one where pc boot followed by device not starting.
But I seem to find a corrolation with which side of guide timeline I click; right of timeline = device fails to start ; left of timeline = device starts and streaming data received.

Any ideas? Log file can be sent if requested.

As I posted we would need those zipped logs to help you.

Martin.

Yeah, we'll need those logs.

On the Settings->About page, hit the 'Log Files' button and it'll zip them up for you. You can then attach them to your post.

Ignor my previous comment on which side of timeline clicked. My latest thought is that my HP Wolf Security is somehow blocking the streaming connection.
Anyway I'm out of guessing. Attached are two log files renamed to show which startup was successful and which failed with "starting device please wait" followed by streaming failed.

Your help is much appreciated.

Are you using the antenna that came with your tuner? There is another thread on this going on right now https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?tid=66100 and a poor signal would certainly be the cause of this issue.
