Thanks. I have been looking at the file, and can reproduce the problem. I'm trying to determine if there is anything I can do about it. The issue is happening in the Microsoft closed caption decoder.

Any idea as to why it occurs with CBS, but not NBC, or FOX or PBS? Also,.I can ask a CBS contact any questions if needed.

Sorry no, I haven't managed to find time to come back to it.
It's not entirely clear to me what the Microsoft closed caption decoder doesn't like about the closed caption stream. (NextPVR doesn't have to deal with the low level details of this)

Is there an option for me to install a different closed caption decoder? Since VLC works fine, it is clearly not using the same decoder.

Like using NPVR to watch all the OTA shows. Going out to VLC to watch CBS would be annoying - but doable.

Kodi can display closed captions too and if you like the NextPVR UI you can use knewc. I didn't confirm your sample but I could if you'd like.
