Multiple recurring recordings not recording

I wanted to watch the news but only yesterdays news  was recorded. Then I notice several show to be recorded weren't highlighted in red as usual to indicate they would be recorded. If I click on the shows it offers to cancel recording or cancel series but I don't think it will actually record based recent shows that should have recorded and did not.

You started the server too many times today to catch the EPG update.

Thanks Martin,

I did restart the server in an attempt to see if it would resolve the problem, but that was after it already failed to record the news programs today, local and national news.

How were you able to tell it restarted multiple times?

Updating the EPG data manually fixed it.

The log file resets on restart and NextPVR only keeps 4 generations the oldest data was

One troubling entry in the log could lead to missed recordings. If you don't have the correct timing for your device on linux boot, recordings will fail because the tuner gets disabled.

There is a setting in 5.1.1 to not scan on startup which will avoid this.

I've upgraded so I hope that fixes it.

Also, I thought I had installed and enabled ntpd.service, but I hadn't. Now it is installed and enabled.

I am having more shows not record. I updated the epg but it didn't make a difference. There are several shows this evening that are scheduled but are not highlighted in red.

I restarted nextpvr and redid the epg update and now the shows are highlighted in red.

Did you change the scan setting in 5.1.1 on Settings->General

I don't think updated anything previously. However, I added a drive yesterday and made it a secondary recording directory. Today I had another failure...I restarted, rebooted and refreshed the EPG before I finally zipped the logs. I'm need to write a script to zip the logs on boot or restart so that I don't forget.
