That file is ok, I guess the error is in the http request sub is making.  If the channel name include the pipe character and the filename don't that could explain a difference in the APIs.

Can you give an example of one channel taken from http://localhost:8866/service?method=channel.list showing the pipe character.

Try a zip file the forum software silently ignores non supported file types.

This may sound naive. But is there a way to "find and replace" the "|" with a "-" or something?

Yes but it is not trivial and it could impact EPG matching. I'd wait for sub's comments.
