Yes true it is possible that the server or the API is not complete or suffered a regression since the web server doesn't exercise that part of the API.

Must have.  I tested a couple times, and in all cases, if I saved the rule in the web engine after setting it to 'New' in Kodi, it would revert back to 'All Episodes'.  Not the end of the world, but it does force me to choose which to use.  I like the Kodi interface a lot, but I am so used to using a web interface for management, it is hard to change.

And I am still not getting emails.  I'll have to check my spam folder and see if notifications are going there.

It looks like NextPVR ignores the only_new flag from Kodi on advanced and keyword searches.

I'm not sure if you are saying that setting to 'New' in Kodi doesn't work at all, or something else.  It at least appears that in general it is working (assuming I don't save over the top from the web interface), since only new episodes are in the 'to be recorded' category.  

and...this time I did get a notification.  weird.

Got it, thanks.  Hopefully it can be fixed sometime in the future, but for now, as long as I know, it should be fine.
