I'm not sure how long this has been going on, a month or two, but live TV has been doing a lot of buffering and then audio/video gets out of sync.

I have three TV's on WIFI and one on wire.  The WIFI I could understand, and that's part of why I kind of ignored it, thinking that I'm having signal issues, but more recently, my primary TV has been having the exact same issue.  I turn on the TV(s), with the WIFI TV's, I normally get audio and it takes several seconds for the video to catch up.  However, like I said, I'm now seeing similar on the primary TV, which is wired. I turn on live TV, I get buffering, although much quicker to sync up, then after watching for a few minutes it it starts buffering again and all of a sudden, audio and video are out of sync. Never used to do this.

I use RPi' 4B's on the WIFI and a 3B+ on the wired TV.  Linux on the NPVR client, just upgraded to V5.1.2.210603 and fully patched the client as well.

I'll get logs uploaded as soon as I can.

Thank you.

Daryl

How are new recordings? It could just be signal changes.

I only see the NextPVR logs, Kodi debug logs are required for Kodi problems. I suspect you will need to post this on Kodi forum there is no reason to think there is a NextPVR problem. Kodi issues also should be posted in the Kodi sub-forum here.

Note the RPi4 (assuming LE) has never reached release status and it only does software decoding. It is not an ideal client. Also is your server also a RPi? That doesn't help the situation.

This only happens with live TV. Recorded TV and movies work just fine. No buffering, no lag and no sync issues. I've been using this setup for a very long time and its just now being an issue.

I don't understand what you mean by the RPI4 has never reached release status. I've been using LE v9.2.5 for over a year on my RPi4's. One of them is on beta v10, but the others are on stable v9.2.5. However, my primary is a RPi3B which is hard wired and not on WIFI. This is a very stable platform and its having buffering issues with live TV.

I can post on Kodi forums as well, but this seems like a NPVR issue to me. I'm only having this issue with live TV.

Thanks

I meant that LE have never finalized RPi4 and considered it fully supported, so they think LE10 is still between alpha and beta state. Earlier versions were on a old linux kernel that is inferior so it worse. This is not to say that you won't be happy with what you see, it just means there are issues.

Why do you think it is a NextPVR issue? NextPVR is delivering data just fine based on your logs and you never provided Kodi debug logs.

These streams are coming from an HDHomeRun, so NextPVR is just deliverying a copy of the original stream. It is not re-encoding, so no opportunity for the audio/video sync to be broken in the stream. This means any audio/video sync issues will be happening in the player, so sounds like a Kodi issue.

The reason why I was thinking that it was NPVR is because this happens with ALL of my pi's RPi4 AND RPi3B.  The 4's are on WIFI and the 3 is wired.  Since it only happens with live TV and on all of the pi's I my first thought is NPVR. But since Sub explained how it could not be, I will start looking at Kodi and asking question there.  Its just odd that it suddenly started happening.  I don't remember making any changes to the environment.

Thank you for the explanation Sub. I greatly appreciate it.

I don't mind if you start here first but regardless of where you post you really to include the Kodi debug log or no one can help you.

Edit: You might also want to hook a keyboard up and see what Ctrl-Shift o is displaying.

What is CTRL + SHIFT O?  I'm not familiar with that.

That keystroke combination (with lower case o) gives you on screen stats during the video playback.
