Greetings all.

I updated from V4 to V5 last year and having futzed with Settings since that time, but I'm now at my wits end with the NPVR Web App!

My ongoing issue (as mentioned in one or two threads in the V4 section of this forum Wink ) is that my IPTV provider occasionally moves channels around, and although I can watch said channels in NPVR, there's no guide data. As there was no 'refresh' function in V4 (as you would see in other IPTV apps on, say, Android or IPTV hardware, where each time guide data is grabbed, channel assignments are also updated) I had to occasionally wipe the provider's info, reload it, and then manually delete the thousands of channels and tens of groups I don't need.

The issue I'm currently having with the UI in V5's Web App is that I can't select multiple channels to delete! I mistakenly presumed that the functionality of groups management had been updated so that deleting groups in the 'Channels' section of 'Settings' would delete the related channels as well.

Needless to say, all 5,400-plus are still there.

No problem, I thought, I'll just delete batches of them as I did in V4: click, scroll, shift-click to select all in between the two clicks. Nope... no joy. It seems I can only select one channel at a time for deletion! Sad

Is there some other trick to deleting a bunch of channels, or deleting a group while also deleting all of its channels?

Second matter: as with most IPTV providers these days, login is only available via XC, with m3u completely deprecated. So... I was happy to see that NPVR now has "Added the ability update XC channels"... but I can't find it in Settings!

As always, thanks in advance. Smile

It is best in V5 to only select the groups you want when you import rather then delete them afterwards. If you are just starting delete everything and try that new feature.

That would be painful logic for people that use custom groups.

I've never used a custom group, but I can see how it would be an issue!

As for selecting the groups to import, where is that functionality? I'm not just starting out, as I've been using NPVR with this provider for a few years now...

Back to my issue of deleting multiple channels, how can one select a bunch at a time as we were able to do in V4?

Thanks!

When you import a new m3u you are presented with a list of groups.

On the settings channel list there is a box on the top left by "Number" Click it twice to clear it then select the channels you want to delete. With so many I assumed you'd want to redo it.

Your patience is greatly appreciated!

As mentioned, I only futz with things occasionally, so I tend to forget (some of) what I did previously... and don't 'absorb' release notes for the regular updates, so I don't know what's changed!

Is the new list of groups also presented with XC login? As mentioned, my provider switched to XC-only earlier this year...

You'll have to wait for sub's reply on anything to do with the XC process.

Will do. Smile

Thanks yet again... I did find a helpful kluge in deleting groups of channels that I thought had been deleted by deleting groups themselves: the search function in the 'Channels' section of Settings allowed me to highlight (at least most of) the channels orphaned by deleting the groups, allowing me to delete them en masse. Progress! Cool

Yes it’s also there with import XC. Immediately above the channel list, you can click the button to filter button to get a drop down of the channel groups. Start by unticking ‘all channels’ the. Tick only the groups you’re interested in.

Thanks sub.

I did figure out that filtering by group works well... as long as I do that and delete the channels before deleting the group! Wink   Big Grin

I still can't find 'update XC', unfortunately, only 'update m3u'... does that button now work with an XC login as it would (should?) with an m3u?

In the current release, the button is now called 'Updated Channels' and it updates both. If you're still seeing 'update m3u', then your browser is showing you a cached copy of the page. (in which case, try ctrl-f5, or emptying the cache)
