It often depends on the unique id, some shows have a "unique id" that doesn't really identify the show. As an example the real unique id of the show "The Americans" is EP01616980 plus the episode number. For me sometimes the EPG uses a generic SH016169800000 that could be any episode. When it ends in 0000 you can't delete it. These are usually easy to tell because they don't have valid subtitle or good description of the show.

Thanks, Martin. Can you tell me where NPVR would be storing my SchedulesDirect EPG file so I can check for ID tags? I couldn't find it anywhere obvious nor in Google or wiki searches.

I'd check nrecord.log, it will show the unique id that is scheduled.

The NPVR wiki suggests that individually deleted pending episodes should STAY deleted, even after an EPG update.  This suggests the answer to my first question is No, this is not the expected behavior.

"How to cancel season recordings
When you cancel a specific episode that is part of a series of recurring recordings from the TV Guide, it is only cancelling the specific episode, not the entire season. It remembers if you have deleted individual episodes of a season recording so that they don't get rescheduled automatically each night when it updates the EPG. Otherwise, you would have to cancel a specific episode every day until the time has passed. In order to reset a cancelled show that is part of the series of recurring recordings, you would need to update the series from the recordings menu." (emphasis added) (Datestamp of wiki page: January 16, 2013, at 10:58 AM)

This seems to still be the case. I have a manually created series recording where I have it record every weekday at a specific time. Every so often, the show goes on break, so I'd like to be able to trash those episodes ahead of time, and have them remain permanently deleted.

Sorry manual recordings have much more basic functionality compared to recordings scheduled from the guide.

With guide based recordings you can just cancel specific episodes, or just disable the recurring recording for a period of time.

Hi @sub, thanks, I just thought of an alternative idea based on what you said. Would it be possible to implement a button to *disable* or *pause* series recordings, rather than just delete them? Then I could just go in and disable/pause the manual series recording during a show hiatus, and re-enable the series recording when the show is coming back on. In other words, in the Scheduler, on the Recurring list, there could be a Pause button next to the Trash can, or something like this. I don't see a way to disable the recurring recording at the moment, just a way to delete it, but maybe I'm missing something.

It is currently possible to disable manual recordings via Kodi. I may have also suggested Schedules Direct to you and it avoids this problem because you don't record repeats and you can disable EPG based recordings in NextPVR web too.

The NextPVR server does have the ability/logistics to "disable" a recurring recording. (There is a field in the database which will do that.) However, not all clients include a mechanism to view/change that setting. Thinking about it now, I'm not even sure if any of the current clients support it. Changing the setting may require updating the database directly. I'm sure that sub can let us know.

EDIT: Ignore my response. I didn't notice that you were referring to "manual recordings" vs. "recurring recordings".

Also, in case someone else finds this thread in a search, the current web interface DOES give access to the setting the ENABLE/DISABLE a recurring recording. It is the last field on the recording details screen labeled "Enabled:". Big Grin

Here's a screenshot. I swear I don't see such a setting, unless I'm misunderstanding what you mean by the recording details screen. Unless this is also only available for recordings using SD guide data rather than a manual recurring recording?
