Viewing NTSC video on a PAL MVP

Has anyone come across a solution to the problem of viewing NTSC videos on a PAL MVP (and vice-versa I imagine)?

A lot of my downloaded music videos are NTSC and because of the different standard, there's a large black bar at the bottom of the screen, sometimes taking up as much as half of the screen, and the rest of the picture is distorted.

I know this is an MVP problem rather than GB-PVR (I asked once before) but I wondered if anyone had found a solution to it?

I guess the only practical answer is to convert them to PAL, does anyone know of a program that'll do it without too much loss?

Not an elegant solution, but you can always boot into the Hauppage software and in the config set output to NTSC - so long as your TV supports it.

Thanks bluesxman, strangely it's working nicely with GB-PVR but I can't get it to work with the Hauppauge software!

In the mean time, I found that TMPGEnc Plus does a fairly good job of converting NTSC to PAL - not perfect by a long way but it works and is acceptable when watching the videos on TV.

hi guys,

i changed my mvp to ntsc output (which my tv supports, its a "multi"-device) but now the mvp is stretched that the upper and downer end of the picture is "outside" the tv. Means: the picture the mvp makes is larger than the (16:9) tv.

any ideas?

I changed to NTSC because of the above mentioned problem.
