It's absolutely helps a great deal Sub!

All the stuttering and lipsync problems have now disappeared after a skip and the playback resumes very cleanly.
My feeling is the that 2 second delay in skipping is slightly longer that it used to be in the distant past but that might just be my system and the LAV codecs (or my imagination). Whatever, it's perfectly usable.

I note you've removed that additional audio codec from the playback filter list, was that just the problem?

The problem was related to a logic flaw that was causing it to think there was both AAC and HE-AAC audio streams, and both trying to be active at the same time.
