Hi everyone,
When I bought my hauppauge 250 I didn't get a remot and I would like to purchase one and I was wondering if I absolutely needed to get the hauppauge remote control or if I can just buy one online?
I also have an old audigy platinum that came with a remote, would/could it work through my board and gb-pvr?

Think your easiest route would be to just pick one up from ebay or similar. I just got a Hauppauge 45 button remote for about £3 to replace one of my 34 button ones. I think if you have an USB-UIRT you can teach GBPVR to use any remote, but I haven't really played around with that.

If you bought the MCE version you won't be able to hook up a remote.
That is how it is with my 150MCE.

I actually purchased a program called Uice. $20

http://www.divx-digest.com/software/uice.html

It allows me to use my ancient SB Live! drive & remote control.
Yes it's old, but I just felt ripped off by the included software & always thought it was great idea done wrong.

You can assign any keyboard function to a remote that way.
I believe it comes with hauppauge remote driver's also.

i'm not sure if i have the mce version or not, is there an obvious way to tell by looking at the board? I bought it online w/ no box, remote, s/w, manual, etc...

the 'standard' pvr-250 has a ir-connector which looks like a small headphones-plug-connector, just smaller (about ~2mm in diameter).
the mce does not.

[edit]here's a pic of a 'normal' pvr-250:

the mce-version should look about the same, but without the remote-control-stuff on the left.
AMD 1600mHz, 512 M RAM, 20+160 GB drive, Hauppauge PVR-350 + PVR-150 + PVR-150MCE, Win XP Pro SP3, using software decoding.
