Commercial skipping when your remote doesn't have a 'play' button

I have a remote keyboard/trackpad that is good in many ways but is missing some key buttons.
It's missing 'play' so I cannot skip ads (by pressing play)
I have tried to remap another key to ctrl-P but the program I am using for this (SharpKeys) doesn't allow mapping to a key combination.
Is there anything I can do here?
If the ctrl-p could be changed to a single key then I could remap another key to it.
If the 'play/pause' button could be used for skipping that would be a solution too.

Play/Pause is also pause but I guess space is available. Did you try mapping Ctrl-O to Play.

Why not just like comskip skip automatically?

'Play/Pause' and space don't trigger the skipping. It needs to be an only 'play' button. I have a play button on a remote control, but the wireless keyboard doesn't unfortunately.

I don't use the automatic feature as comskip frequently makes mistakes, so I like to see the start of the commercials, then press the button, then guess whether it has skipped too far.

I know that I was wondering if you could change Ctrl-O to Play in Keymappings.xml I don't now how sub maps the HID keys.

Thanks, Keymappings.xml was the answer. I just changed the mapping of 'play' from ctrl-p to an otherwise unused button on the keyboard.

Now the challenge is remembering this in case I try to use ctrl-p in the future and don't know why it doesn't work .

For future readers wanting to do this -

Well after all that I found a better way.

All I really needed was a keyboard re-mapping tool that can remap any types of keys to other keys _and_ combinations of keys (eg ctrl-P).

That tool is Windows Powertoys. Very easy to use too.
