I have a dual tuner WinTV PVR-500 and every time I try to record using both tuners simultaneously I get a 0kb file.

It appears that the problem occurs both when I record during two different time slots and the shows over lap due to the pre and post padding but also occurs when I record two shows simultaneously on different channels.

The first recording always works but I get an error in the 'recordingservice' log that says the following:

27/09/2005 8:58:07 PM.576 VERBOSE [464] File does not yet exist (may fail): D:\GBPVR_Recordings\The Biggest Loser\The Biggest Loser_20050927_21002200.mpg

And as it says if you go to the appropriate directory the .mpg file has not yet been created. After the recording should have ended a 0kb recording shows up.

Anyone have any idea what happened.. I'm not winning too many points with the wife!

When you created your two capture sources for your PVR500, did you set one to device #1, and the other to device #2?

I setup the first Capture source as:

Device 1 - PVR500 with FM Tuner

The second source is:

Device 1 - PVR500

I thought I had read elsewhere in the forum that a dual tuner card is the same board # (or device #) and that the distinction between them is made using the FM tuner and/or no fm tuner option.

No, one needs to be set to device #1, the other to device #2. From a drivers point of view, a PVR500 looks like two PVR150s.

Does it matter which one is assigned to device 1? I would rather the tuner with FM abilites be kept free as much as possible so that I can use it for radio around the house.

Thanks for the fast replies!

BTW - So far everything looks good! If this solves my problems I'll probably be picking up another MediaMVP so that I can watch my recordings on any of my TVs.
