Cannot connect to NextPVR from Samsung S21 Ultra

I've got NextPVR Server installed on both Win7 and Win10 boot partitions of one machine with a Silicon Dust HDHomeRun Flex 4K connected.

I've also got NextPVR app installed on both Win7 and Win10, as well as on [back before Roku disabled it] Roku Ultra 2020 (4800) and ATV4K (2019) and NVidia Shield Tube and Samsung S21 Ultra.

And of course I also have HDHomeRun DVR server installed on both Win7 and Win10, matched with the HDHR client apps on ATV4K and NVidia Shield Tube (but not Roku). And I also have the HDHR client app installed on my S21 Ultra.

Using HDHR I have 100% success getting to the DVR server (on both Win7 and Win10), from ALL OF THE CLIENT APPS. So I can use HDHR directly from ATV4K, Shield, and also my S21 Ultra phone.

However with NextPVR only the client apps on Roku (previously worked when it was supported), ATV4K and Shield successfully connect to the NextPVR Server (again, for either Win7 or Win10).

For the Samsung S21 Ultra app client it simply does not connect. Connecting circle spins forever and never makes any progress. Eventually there is about failure to connect.

I'm using 192.168.1.26:8866 as the server along with my custom PIN. This is exactly as it is set up on the Shield, and it works there without a problem. But not with the S21.

Thinking perhaps it might be a BitDefender Firewall problem (although there's no problem connecting to NextPVR Server from all the other clients) I've tried turning off Firewall. But it makes no difference. Still no connection success from the S21. So it doesn't seem like BitDefender is involved with the failure. Must be something unique about the Android app as it applies to the Samsung phone, since there's no problem using the Shield version of the app.


I'm open to any suggestions. I'll also provide any other details about my setup that might be helpful.

The Roku app still works but it uses different connectivity then sub's Android client. Does uidroid connect?

Yes, that is successful!  it produces the NextPVR login screen for username and password. So that part seems to work.

But when I use "admin" and "password" it says "login failed" and refreshes the screen for another try. This continuous (and automatic) repeated login failure could very well be what's happening behind the scenes under-the-covers when I try to just launch the NextPVR app from the phone's desktop. That could account for the symptom I see.

I cannot install uidroid on the S21. I tried using ADBLINK2 (which had worked for the Shield) and it failed:

I don't know if this is a phone security thing or what, but the APK cannot be installed by ADBLINK2. Any thoughts?

Nope. The Roku NextPVR app NO LONGER WORKS. Its "loads", but then terminates with an error message:

"NextPVR demo ended" Check the NextPVR forum for more information"

This is followed by a return to the "Configure NextPVR Server" black-and-white screen, allowing "manual entry" etc.

NextPVR client app no longer works on my Roku Ultra 2020 (4800).

If you haven't donated to sub and put the code in your config.xml file, the you have to uninstall and re-install the Roku app every 7 days.

I STOP'ed the NextPVR service, to close out the log. Here is what is shown in NRECORD.LOG, but it doesn't look super-informative to me. Maybe to you. Maybe the codes reveal the explanation for the failure.

Perhaps there's some additional level of debugging output I could generate, to give a better indication of exactly why the login failed.
