You can incorporate calls to those utilities in one of the script file hooks: Scripts · sub3/NextPVR Wiki (github.com).  

Likely candidates are:

• ParallelProcessing.bat
  
• PostProcessing.bat
  

There is a link on that wiki page to templates that may be of some use for getting started.

i have setup but don't think it's doing anything, all it is makes an edl and txt files. i read some where that comskip doesn't actually cut them out you then have to use another app.

Correct, adding comskip to the postprocessing.bat file will not cut the commercials.  

• comskip marks the commercials, 
  
• comcut (or other tools) uses those 'cut' markers to remove them and generate a file without the commercial segments.
  

I believe (but not 100% sure), during playback, NextPVR can recognize those 'cut' markers and jump over the commercials without having to use comcut.  The file remains the same, but the playback logic uses those cut marker files.  I believe playback via Kodi will also accommodate cut files.

Be aware, the markers are not always entirely accurate, so in some cases (most for me), I need to tweak the markers to align to the proper points where I want the skips.  Comskip has a UI to do this, however, I didn't find it very user friendly.

I personally use VideoRedo to edit the commercial cuts, and finally to remove the commercials.  It has a batch interface that allows me to integrate into scripts to minimize manual activities.  Downside, the price has increased and now the suite is $95 (was something like $45 when I bought it several years back).

You need to check the comskip.ini file you are using and change one of the options contained there, set: 

output_edl=1

Comskip won't cut the commercials but if you use NextPVR with Kodi (for example) the commercials will be skipped on playback.  There is an interesting tutorial on this topic at:

It might relate to NextPVR v4.x but it can easily be modified to suit v5.x.  As noted in the tutorial using the comskipgui utility (on Windows) is the easiest and safest way to modify the comskip.ini file. Once modified the comskip.ini file can easily be moved to a Linux based system if using NextPVR there.

NextPVR doesn't support output_edl=1 and Kodi pvr.nextpvr forces it to to 3. There were too many complaints about not seeing the add breaks in the timeline. Also NextPVR.exe and UI clients support automatic skipping the web client doesn't. It is so automatic that you barely notice it.

Cutting commercials is a big deal to since you have to transcode the whole stream to get proper timestamps.

i understand now how things are working bit better now. i have comskip working in finding the comercials but can't get an output file that is compatible with cuttermaran, does anyone know of a better program to use?

Have you looked @ comcut?  You could probably run via WSL in windows (although I have not tried)

You could use my script to delete commercials. It uses comskip, bat and ffmpeg to do the job
