NPVR station selection issue

Hi,

I live in an area where there is a local TV station on (RF9) within 5 miles of my location and that station has a low-power translator running about 40 miles away on RF24, using the same station name.  For the past 2+ years all has been working fine, where the NPVR Scan selected the nearby RF9 station and tuned to that station whenever commanded.  But this morning, I was unable to receive the station on RF9 signal or so I thought.  After digging into it, I discovered that NPVR is now selecting the very weak RF24 translator station instead of the strong RF9 station.  Is there a way to instruct NPVR to re-select the nearby strong station instead of the distant, barely detectable station?

I remember there was a bug where NextPVR would not allow two ATSC channels with the same name, not sure if that ever was fixed. If it has been and both channels are in your list why not disable the weak channel.

Logs of course would help.

That's the strange thing. The RF24 channel is so weak, that it doesn't even show up on the channel scan. I don't know how to disable it if it isn't showing up on the scan.

Is there a way to tell NPVR to ignore RF24 no matter what?

Follow up: The problem seems to have corrected itself - NPVR is now selecting the nearby strong station again.

Well, this issue has returned and has been plaguing me for the last several mornings.  When I tune to RF9 (WFMZ), NPVR either hangs altogether or it takes several minutes for the channel to play.  Even the play is very erratic.  All this started several days ago, but before that, this channel has played well for over 3 years.  The HD Homerun app has no problems with the channel.  Any help would be appreciated!  Thanks

First make sure you don't update your EPG while using NextPVR. The Pluto guide sucks but the updates are causing you issues for both Live TV and recording playback. There is a setting <AutoStorePosition> false</AutoStorePosition> but it is not in my config.xml anymore so I don't know where it goes.

You have also posted about RF channels but the logs show the requests are going the the HDHR virtual channel

If you have multiple virtual channels defined on the HDHR you will need to remove them.

I have completely disable Pluto; EPG updates are only scheduled at ~4am; and I have no duplicate virtual channels (that I know of).  Still having the issue.  All other channels are fine.  The subject channel has worked fine up until recently.  It also works with the HDHR app.

I am wondering if the station changed something?

You are definitely EPG updates probably using external batch process.

then you put it too sleep while it was still running so that screwed up the recording playback.

The virtual channels would be setup on the HDHR web page

WFMZ is showing as http://192.168.0.187:5004/tuner1/v69.1 Maybe check the HDHR app that shows the currently tuned signal strength or the HDHR logs on http://192.168.0.187
