Hi,

Very new to all things linux but having fun mucking around with Mint. Since installing nextpvr ver 6 and getting a Hauppauge dual tuner working I have the same problem as the EPG only finds the first, in my case all the ABC channels, then exits skipping - "EPG Update complete. [2803 inserted, 0 updated, 13463 skipped]". It then, well not every time, requires a server restart if it notifies "No tuner was available for the requested channel."

After coming here and finding this fix I grabbed and replaced the mentioned file but it didn't make any difference.
Using 2 tuners seems very hit and miss with I think only once was I able to get both tuners recording at the same time.

Any help appreciated. Attaching logs as they seem to be always required.

Cheers

I split this out to it's own thread, because it was unrelated to the problem being discussed where it was posted. (which specifically related to a scanning problem with ATSC channels used in North America)

We've found that NextPVR can be a bit quirky with some approaches to setting up multiple tuners, leading to conf files being out of sync, and it looks like this is what is happening for you.

I'd have a fresh at setting up your channels by following these steps... go to the Settings->Channel screen, delete all your channels. Delete the /var/opt/nextpvr/adapter*.conf files. Go to Settings->Devices and scan one of your DVB-T devices, and ok to save the channels. When you click on the second DVB-T tuner, it'll offer to copy the configuration from the existing tuner. Accept it's offer. After this, hopefully both of the DVB-T tuners should work.

The best solution here would be to

sudo cp /var/opt/nextpvr/adapter1-DVB-T-channels.conf /var/opt/nextpvr/adapter0-DVB-T-channels.conf

I deleted channels then the file /var/opt/nextpvr/adapter*.conf, was only the adater1 not adapter0. I could then not scan for channels so just uninstalled and reinstalled.

Then again scanning for channels on first device it starts with, shown in attached pic, then finishes after 60 secs only updating the TV guide for ABC channels.

I installed mint 20.3 a few months ago and not long back from a month overseas. I had a USB pinnacle tuner which worked straight up and found all channels and updated the EPG fine. Then after coming home I went to the ver 6 and had problems updating all channels EPG. I mucked around and a few tries it came good and finally updated all channels.

I have a mediapc running win 10 and WMC with a twin Hauppauge and after working out how to use it in linux I put it in the linux box and it worked fine. I then had a spare SSD so installed Mint 21 and with ver 6 I have this problem of only updating the ABC. I have screwed around a bit, I'm retired so have plenty of time, and maybe getting confused but it seems ver 5 didn't have this problem only ver 6 has for me.

I can have 2 programs recording at once although watching one and recording another seems flakey. So both tuners work at the same time fine its just that I need the EPG to update fully.

Hope this is not too confusing and can supply other information if required. Also I installed Kaffeine to have a look at it and it has no problems with the Hauppauge twin tuner. I even had both Kaffeine running using one tuner and nextpvr running using the other which amazed me as that could never happen under windows.

You should have just followed my last instruction. There is a bug in the copy function that is being addressed so you need to scan the first tuner and manually do the copy I showed in that post. Rescanning, uninstalling etc won't help.

I did your copy and have adapter1 and 0 files. But right from the start doing the first adapter channels scan then it asks if you want to update the EPG is when it only does the ABC channels. Doing the EPG update on either device has the same result. I would rather have dual tuners so don't want to go back to the single USB tuner which anyway still had this same problem when going to ver 6. I'm not complaining just like to help with working this out.

I feel you are saying to copy the conf file to the second adapter but if it isn't being setup properly to begin with its pointless? I suppose I am also confused with configuring the tuner for channels and then updating the EPG for all the noted channels.

Yes if it is not scanning all your channels it won't help. Do the scan and send your zipped logs so we can help you further adapter1 was working yesterday

The OTA EPG update issue is a second problem after the scanning.

The channel scanning seems fine and I suppose as ABC is the lowest frequency it always starts the EPG there. Just after it finishes with ABC it errors out while switching to all the next channels as shown by logs
[ERROR] dvb_fe_set_parms failed
[ERROR] Failed to start stream
Stating the obvious I realize, so will just wait for the EPG side of things to be fixed.

Cheers
