Migrate recordings to new Drive?

Hello, I have been running NextPVR latest version, and due to drive failure, I have invested in a NAS.
Due to the drive failure, I actually lost the majority of my tv recordings. (as I use external USB 3 drive for recording, which upon hindsight probably was not the best idea)

I do have a few new shows I have recorded recently tho, and wondered the best way to move those recorded tv shows to the NAS?

Or do I just start from scratch again, and define new paths to the NAS in NextPVR, and then carry on as per normal.

I take it backing up my database is not that useful, as it will still point to the original drive location?

My NextTool utility on the wiki can import them and if you used the option to create external XML files you can get back almost all the meta data nack. If you created them in v4 the might have embedded meta data you can create before you copy them. Finally NextTool can use your old database if only the path changes and the filename stays the same?

Thank you for that information.
Yes, was recorded using the current V5/6 version.

I was aware of the release of your tool, and tried it when it was first released, but could not get it to work.
I believe it needed a runtime, and I might have not downloaded the right thing, or smegged something on my system up at that time.

Anyway, it sounds exactly the util I need for this small job.
Thank you very much for creating it. I wish I had your skills.

..cheers..

Update:

Tried NextTool, and it worked beautifully and imported my recordings that I had placed on my new NAS.
From what I can tell, they are all playing fine etc.

I do have one question regarding free space reporting.
Should NextPVR show the free space available for recording on my NAS?

It currently just shows complete blue circle, with Default 0% Free  0.00GB

On my Nas I created a directory called TV Recordings, and Mapped it in Windows 10 as Drive T.
So the mapped drive path is just T:\  and I entered that as the record path in the NextPVR Web Client settings configuration.

Seems to be able to play all my recordings, but have yet to try recording something to the NAS.
(that's my next job)

Anyway, cheers for the excellent utility, well done!

Glad it helps. Note you probably will still have trouble with the T: drive with recordings and you probably will not be able to record to it or use any client except NextPVR.exe for playback until you fix it.

The easiest solution will be to change the "NextPVR Recording Service" to run as your user account. Launch Windows Services (services.msc) and located it and the under right click properties go the Logon tab and choose you username and enter your password. The right click the service and restart it. You should see you drive space at this point.

Yes, you were right.  I cannot record.

Tho playback of the recordings I imported using your tool do play in both Kodi NextPVR addon, and NextPVR UI Client.

Thanks again for the tips, I will try your suggestions and let you know how I get on.
(grin) I never expected converting to NAS to be so troublesome.  I gained a heck of a lot of storage space, but an entirely new set of problems.
Am running the TrueNAS Scale server software, so it is a bit of a learning curve to someone completely new to that environment.

I was unsure if NextPVR would like using a NAS to record to, but found some users doing it, so thought 'what the hell'
Playback seems to work fine, so am halfway there!

Thanks again, your comments are as invaluable as always.

Playback will fail from the web player too since it doesn't see the T: drive. Once you see the drive space that will all be fixed.

Update 2.

I changed the NextPVR service to run on my user account.
Still could not see free space,  but then went into the NextPVR web config, and set the recording path from T:\  to  \\TrueNAS\TV Recordings\

Bam, everything instantly started working, including recording, and reported free space.

So, just as you said.

Thanks!!!

Then you probably should run NextTool using the UNC name too, since the old recordings won't work anywhere but NextPVR.exe.

To delete the bad T: files you would need to change temporarily change config.xml to

<AutoRemoveMissingRecordings>true</AutoRemoveMissingRecordings>
<CheckForRenamedRecordings>true</CheckForRenamedRecordings>
<NoRemoveWhenTreeMissing>false</NoRemoveWhenTreeMissing>

and restart the service and then set them back to what you want.
